Help please
Hello everyone, I have posted threads on this forum before but it didn't really help. So hopefully this one would. I have been here for a couple of months now, and I am still looking for a job. I am an American and I do speak Arabic. English is my first language though. Other than Bayt.com and monstergulf.com is there any way I can apply for jobs. Is it better if I apply to companies directly or is the Internet the best way to go. Also many people told me that I should make my C.V short, and I did... its only two pages long, should I make it shorter? Any help would be great, thanks a lot everyone. Take care.

Thanks a lot khaledmhawish! ill check the site right now.
hello :) how are you? well you can use www.jomea.com, believe me it is so helpful, it is a search engine for job opportunities in Middle East and Africa.
Jobs in qatar are available on www.jomea.com
are u sure? because I went to a couple of company websites and when i went to apply they told me to go to bayt.com...
Bayt.com is a Scam. There are not jobs on this website, only a lengthy form that leads you to pay for their CV building services. That's all you will be getting from them. Bayt.com and Rabea Ataya is a Fraud. There are many articles on this individual and no one knows why the Dubai police is not doing anything about this fraudster. We demand Rabea Ataya by taken to jail for the crimes of stealing money from Jordanians and innocent Saudi residents.
Check in the classified section in Gulf Times and can apply immediately if u find your position vacant as well as meet somebody in the HR dept in some of the companies and forward your CV and wait for an interview call ........anyway all the best!
Thanks kingtout for your post
Did u know that nearly 80% of the vacancies are not listed on the internet ?!
But how to get to that 80%?
Just go to the companies and drop your CV there.... pegging for a job is not an option even if u need it so much. Degnity is important!!!
And what managers do anyway??? Do you think that managers are the ones that hire or even ask for extra employment ?!
NO
These are the senior people that actually do the work.
Managers are just for the big talks not for the "plz hire me talk"
yousri, thanks for your post, I was actually thinking about going to companies and ask to speak with a manager but some people told me that I will be asked to leave. I will give it a shot. Thanks
thanks everyone for their posts, i truly appreciate it.

well I wasnt thinking about lying about the appointment! I figured id GO to a company and ask to speak with a manager... but even that does not seem professional. But I wasnt going to lie hahahahahhaha id feel so stupid.
and I will throw you out very quickly. And you will never get an appointment after that. I just absolutely detest the lack of manners and respect.

check in gulftimes, you can post your qualifications there, too.
or try Momenta, they can give you assistance.
never barge in an office without appointment, thats unprofessional.

2 pages for a CV is perfect, shouldn't be more than that. I would suggest sending in your CV by email/post with a covering letter and follow it up with a phone call a week later. It's quite easy for companies to "misplace" CVs when they have loads coming in. With the phone call, you can ensure your CV was received and you can discuss it further.

Not to be disagreeable, but if someone lied to my secretary about having an appointment and then barged in to my office on false pretenses, I would definitely show him/her the door in short order. The best thing to do is your homework - find out who is the person in charge is and then write directly to them and ask politely for an appointment. May I also suggest that you do go on-line to the six American universities in Education City and look at all their job offerings and descriptions. You may find one that suits your skills and you can apply directly through that site.

Motez, never apply online anywhere. Best way is to go any office and tell them you have an appoinment and you want to meet manager or any availabe head. Talk to him/her directly. Most of the times, they dont refuse.
