Dora, are you still in Qatar? I will be arriving in late May/early June with my husband. I have 20 years of nursing experience with the last 13 in the operating room. I would like to find a job before we leave so that I have necessary paperwork, etc. Do you know of anything??
Yes I will be a local hire as we are coming in May and the recruitment agencies say that the hospitals are not employing at the moment - I have even called myself - I will have to wait until at least Aug/Sept.
SO for the time being I will be a lady of leisure.
If you recruited by an international nursing recruiter to work in Doha, you'll be paid well with nice benefits ("travel nursing"). Have you tried that option? If so, what happened? dw is a nurse so I've looked through these ads and most of them require BSN and 3-10 years experience in a big Western-style hospital. If you have these 2 things, you should be a shoe-in.
If not (like dw) and you come here looking for a local hire RN job, they are here but poorly paid. dw found they prefer Phillipino and Indian nurses as local hires b/c they are happy at a low salary level and can work well with the other nurses (from the same background and language). Actually, I haven't met a Western nurse yet in Doha.
Honestly, I think you're gonna have to wait until you come here if you want to be a local hire.

quickwitted04, I've told you before, you won't get a licence let alone a job with no experience! How the hell did you qualify with no experience??

Everywhere around the world the nurses are poorly paid so why should it be any different from here :)
Good luck with jobhunting
