I am looking at moving my family to Qatar to run an office for my australian based employer. My wife is a UK trained nurse/midwife. What are the requirements to work in Qatar as a nurse or midwife and would she be able to get employment? Any help appreciated.

Once you get here your wife will need to register in Qatar. Make sure you get all original certificates and registration as copies will need to be verified here by ministry of foreign affairs, also will need a referral letter from last employer. This takes about a month, imshalla. Jobs available at Al Ahli hospital. But they are mainly full time work and that is 48hrs a week!! Just going through the process myself.

I'm sure she will get work as a nurse here but the pay will be much much lower the Aus, nurses aren't generally well paid here. As for a midwife, these jobs are few and far between and they definately don't pay as much as Aus (as I know in UK midwives are paid more than nurses, thats not the case here.)Check out the hospitals there are loads! Good luck!
I am sure she can work here in Qatar but be prepared to get paid less than what she was getting in Aus/UK. Also, your wife might need to wait for 3 months in order for her to apply for job as the processing for the visa application is very slow. (This is based on my experience and with a western passport) others got away with two months only.
she needs to have her papers evaluated by NHA to get a license and be able to work in qatar. there are so many opportunities for her as a nurse. good luck!

It can take quite a long time. After evaluation you will need to sit for an Immidiate life support course at Hamad and get a medical.
Then resubmit all the paper work.
