Reference for working in Al Jazeera?

A friend of mine has applied several times in AJE.
He has been working as an NLE (Non-linear editor) in a Very renown Pakistani news Channel. But everytime he Apply, they say you need to have a reference in AJE to have a Job here? Is It true? He Really need a reference?

And one more thing,does anybody have an idea that What is the average salary of an NLE here who has a 5-8 year experience in this field?

AJE is an international name and deploy standards and technology that even the top channels in Pakistan or neighbouring countries are not able to match.

Try submitting your portfolio with reference of associates from other channels.

If you meet their job requirements then you should be able to secure a interview.
