Remembering Harold Snider
On June 26, 2009, the world lost one of the most prominent and powerful advocates for the rights of the blind - Dr. Harold Snider In his remarkable life, Snider became the first blind student in the USA to graduate from public school and in 1978, he started Access for the Handicapped, a Washington, D.C.-based consulting company for guidance on policy, technology and resources for people with disabilities.
ictQATAR had the privilege to interview Dr. Snider shortly before he passed away at the Gulf Disability Society Conference organized by Al Shaffalah Center. At the conference, which took place on May 12, 2009 in Doha, Dr. Snider shared some technology breakthroughs with the attendees that allow the visually impaired to read print text documents.
