Hallo everyone!
I was wondering if anyone is familiar with Swahili cuisine? If one starts a small business, will there be customers?
Thanks for your input
Zanzibar Kitchen restaurant has opened in the food court of the Fashion Asia Mall located on Airport Road. The mall building is situated between Al Rawnaq and Shoprite establishments. You can get original Swahili meals and delicacies cooked by East African chefs. As mentioned by others, Swahili food is an exotic culinary blend of Arabic, Asian and East African tastes. It should therefore appeal to most palates as is very mildly spicy.
khatry, I don't mind tasting it as I love food if it is tastier and cooked accordingly. I am giving you a tip only. As far as the swahili population is not big enough in Qatar it is not wise to open a resto which offers only swahili recipe. I hope you got it.
Khatry ..Mambo.. I have tried them all and know how its prepared too. I like some of them including the choma, but I still doubt whether Doha has enough strength to get you good business.
Swahili dishes is influence by Indian, Arab and European cuisines you can, the difference is that we make it our way, the Swahili way.. We also make sweet stuff that go well with tea time...

Are you expecting all the swahili people to come and dine regularly? I don't think that is going to happen. If you are planning to have only swahili food then better don't start it. It should be a multicuisine where you can serve swahili in the menu for those who like.

I am glad u do, choma choma is awesome, have u tried the other dishes like samosas, special fried potatoes, biriani etc
Not necessarily ugali, kuku choma is same as barbecue here and FYI Swahili pple are increasing in number, am talking of coast dishes to be specific...
Kuku choma? Ugali and sukhumaviki?? No, there are very few Swahili people out here... :)
Sounds worth a try, but it does sound like indian food.
