Can anyone tell me what opportunities exist for woman in the oil & gas industry? do the big players QP, Dolphin Energy, Rasgas e.c.t employ them in procees, safety or quality roles?
women can get jobs here that are at a senior level. We may all have to step over a few stumbling blocks now and then depending on whom is doing the hiring, but it is possible.
i know many female friends of minew who works in one of the biggest EPC contractor in the world, in ras laffan.
they work either in cost control, sub contract department, HSE= safety, or even planning.
It all depends on your qualifications but when it comes to BP, EXXON, TOTAL, TECHNIP, SHELL, i don't think they really care if you're a woman or not. Your skills and experience will be the added value.

With the high tech that we use these days, females and males have the same opprtunities in the oilfield, and to let you know, more than 30% of my company population are females, who are working in the operation side, and going to the rigs and platforms like any man, and they are as compitent as men, and sometimes better.
And to tell you the truth, When it comes to choosing my crew before any operation, I like to get the females, for me I consider them a better performer, since they have the challenge to prove themselves where I think they shouldn't have to.
And offcouse the chances in the safety section is more for females, than operation.
In the middle east, it's very difficult to find a woman working in the oilfield (operation side) even though you can find some in some companies, but very minor number, and I know 1 or two in RasGas, but QP will never do it, they don't even allow girls from my company to go to their platforms or rigs.
Back in The US and Canada, where I worked before, you find females working everywhere in the process and operation side, but here the only females I see are working with the same company I work for.
i.e. I had two females in my crew, and they left just two days ago.
So, there is some companies here can offer such positions to a females.
And by the way, the working environment for females is very relaxing, and there is no kind of any harrassments might anyone think of, the oilfield rules about such issue are very strict, so I don't see anyproblem with that.

brandylady,
it's not a masculine world of oil rigs any more.

Good luck anyway.
oabazeed knew someone would help better than I could, it is nice to know women get a chance in what used to be a masculine world of oil rigs etc.
If the woman is reasonably good looking, them I'm sure she'll get a position. (NOT PC, but true I think)
All these positions are filled by Men.
Women are employed in Finance or as general Secretaries or Tecvhnicval Assistant Positions
