Catch 22

Some of you may be familiar with this book. It may only be a non-fiction, but you will notice it does reflect a plethora of situations in our daily lives, and on a broader picture, perhaps even the arab-israeli conflict. You can't get into the sea unless you first learn how to swim...

I liked catch 22. It was brilliant. I always equate the U.N leadership to Major Major.:)

"may only be a non-fiction"????

I'm pretty certain Catch 22 is fiction! And damn good fiction at that.

People often misuse the phrase "catch 22", and it doesn't really apply to the arab-israeli conflict, as I understand it.

opinion. This is a forum. Btw, I didn't specify the recent conflict but you thought otherwise. I was more on the general scenario.

Hu Wan the novel by Joseph Heller is fiction and I really cannot appreciate your comparison to the Isrealis invading Gaza. I re-read Catch 22 a few months ago and what struck me was the absudity of the situation that the American service men were in. The phrase "Catch 22 situation" is used often out of context in the media today and perhaps that mis use is what you are referring to. The phrase has come to be applied to where there is a no win situation or a "chicken before the egg" arguement. Whereas Heller was writing about futility, hopelessness and frustration.
