Hypocratic Indian media...

Yesterday while surfing channels i saw a serial on NDTV imagine named Rehna hai palkon ki chhaon me.. It was really disgusting as it shamelessly propagated the dowry system..where girl's family was proudly showing off her dowry which included merc. They went on to tell its importance as a duty towards girl and part of Indian culture..they kept on calling girl Paraya Dhan (property of other)..
Instead of showing something informative or revolutionary such channels are forcing the darkness back on India.. innumerable girls have lost their lives due to this evil of Dowry before and after marriage.. Female foeticide and female child killing immediately after birth are other consequences of dowry system.. Calling women as Paraya dhan is derogatory in two ways, first woman is not an Object which can be valued or equaled with money or property and secondly calling her Paraya or others property takes away her right of being equal to man as she is owned by somebody..
This is high time media needs to change its outlook towards society in general and women in particular as its effects are deep reaching..

They just search Muslim names to damage the community. I remember I asked few questions to Barka of NDTV she was zapped and could not answer even one query. Why Muslim womens are the glamour of your media ? There are numerous stories about the other community gals.... but they will never pulish.. Bloody cheap Indian media and that stupid Barka Dutt, she is a slu+

One of these tomorrows Nibiru will hit the earth.

And if Nibiru misses there will be pole change which will result in a massive magnetic storm of such magnitude that the ozone layer will get displaced and all men and beast will get fried by the UV and die.

The Pole change is 30000 years overdue.

May be year 2012 is the year.

"Living for a better tomorrow" it's a racist and really offensive!

We [vampires]are half dead.

And "tomorrow" it's confusing:

- tomorrow morning?

- tomorrow afternoon?

- tomorrow evening?

is one of the worst sytem in India calling it in the name of culture. It is very shameful to all those men who take dowry to marry....

this is strictly forbidden in Islam and but still i think our Indian muslims are experts at this job of taking dowry...really sad...

i concern dowery and horoscope

what the hell with you.

may be you have not taken dowry... but there are people ( educated / technically qualified ) who take dowry from girls house and talk about the cliche "paraaya dhan"

Education does not mean -- talking/writing English or an Engineering graduation. The so-called engineering graduates, when the questin of marriage comes go to Pandit to see the horoscope.

Why an educated / technically qualified person should beleive in horoscope.

We all part of the conspiract to keep the statsquo intact

Entertainment channels show whatever gives them good TRPs so no use blaming them for it, maybe when you stop watching it, they will stop showing it.

Dowry is still a problem in many parts of India though the younger generation is moving away from it..

birdie, I don't know from which state in India you belong to. But in my Province the system of taking and giving dowry is out of fashion. For instance noone in my family has accepted dowry or given dowry for the last 30 years! And there are many like us.

six is just greedy... do you have that sort of money for the dowry? I suspect you have only enough for one pretty one and five fats ones that haven't shaved.....

these serials are a depiction of what is happening even among the rich illiterates in India. Media tends to exaggerate certain rituals and scenes for their 'TRP'.

It takes more than one generation to abolish caste and sexual discrimination. Getting yourself all worked up with a few scenes from a Media depiction requires medical attention.

... there is no wonder, these TV channels compete each other to keep the "statusquo" for ever... There is no a bold attempt to create a niche.

rememebr , there is a Hindi film -

name was - PARAYA DHAN.

the Bollywood is also enjoying to keep the statusquo and the force the age-old traditions to the viewers.

You can see films with husband going after other girls and months later coming back to house -- and the wife as a Goddess women forgives and accepts him,,, as a bhartheeya naari.

Is there any film,, the wife goes after men and comes later the husband forgives and accepts her ???

Najmijpr --- you have raised a valid point. But if you take a survey on Indian QL members, who have not taken dowry or the women who have not given dowry..... you may be surprise.... THERE MAY BE NIL.

our media will never change.....it will show anything to attract viewers......just view it and forget it......only the illiterates follow that principle of considering women as paraya dhan...i think its improving now.
