I would like to read the Quran to learn more about Islam, is there a good English version of it. I was going to go to Jarir to get one. Any recommendations?

Mik, I am trying to PM you but it keeps logging me out.

I have one that is your for the taking if you wish. It is in arabic, and translated into English and also gives the english transliteration. It is the same one that Fanar and the Ministry of Awqaf use so the translation is pretty good.

PM me if you are interested, I can meet you or even mail it to your P.O Box if you like.

There is one Gospel, which is not really a "Muslim Version of the Bible", but very close to.

Although most people (even Muslim scholars) consider it to be fabricated, I enjoyed reading it

im sure if ever i meet your daughter we will enjoy each others company :D (by the way she's a cutie)

There is a ladies entrance past the main one, there will be a lady in the reception you can inquire with. You can probably check in the 3rd floor also, since the arabic classes are being held there.

I'd suggest dropping by instead of calling, since they can assist you personally by then.

All taxi drivers do know about FANAR & SOUQ area. Both are located at the same spot so you won't miss any of them.

Omar, I know how to get to souq waqif, but I don't know where the Al Fardan main bldg is or the gold souq, that's why I was initially asking if there were any good copies at Jarir. I don't know Doha very well, we really haven't been to a lot of places yet.

souq waqif, if you see the tower with a spiral design and thats really bright, thats it. If you are coming from crazy signal, pass the banks street, just go straight and the signal before the last one at the corniche, fanar will be at your right.

Fanar is right beside AL-Fardan Main building at Gold Souq or If you know about Souq Faleh than its easy for you as Fanar is located in Souq Faleh

Where is Fanar located?

Thank you for all of your suggestions and help. I just wanted to read the Quran for myself and learn more about the religion that is so important to this region. I have read a few books about Islam, but you can't really learn about it until you read the actual book.

I agree with cityh

Fanar would be the best option

I agree, unless you got a good knowledge of the religion, don't use the websites. Go to Fanar, You not only get a copy of the Quran but they will answer anything you might be curious about without being pushy :)

By cityh• 19 May 2009 09:27
cityh

Fanar would be your best solution.

Personnaly, I would not trust in all copies you can find on internet.

Enjoy =)
