What Money Looks Like...

Dubai has been built very fast. The plan was money. The architect was money. The designer was money and the builder was money. And if you ever wondered what money would look like if it were left to its own devices, it’s Dubai.

So what's the point, that money is bad or that Laborers should be made Managers / citizens???Any where around the world the hard physical labor remains the least paid field. The part where the Nationals enjoy fruits much beyond their sweat and the fact that Westerners are grossly overrated,is true though.

Agree WK. And I really don't think someone should judge an entire city based on his attendance at a horse race.

Most of it is true actually but he has gone a bit overboard with the criticism. Dubai has no oil money of its own though so not really a legacy of oil there.

Talking about money.... does anyone know why we don't have a 20 QR note? It would be so useful, instead of all those 10's !!!

i agree with pilgram, the writer is very biased in showcasing the picture, if u observe, the ladies in the pix of Nad -Al-Sheeba, the horse racing track, where are they from...?

i bet, a person who left his country for better prospects would not to leave on a goat farm...?

Bit harsh. And obviously written by someone who doesn't live here. There are many Western expats that come here to start families and don't spend their time drunk and partying, and I've found that many Emirati's actually have an impressive work ethic (in comparison to Qatari's) as they have much more of a middle class here. Dubai is garish, but the rest of the Emirates has maintained its culture (if he wants to see goats he can head to Fujarah).

Frankly he just sounds like a snotty European.
