Why?

Dunno if this was already asked here. Why do some people pronounced the letter P as B? Peugeot would sound Bijou and 'people' would be 'bibol', 'ping' into 'bing', etc..Does the letter P have no phonetic equivalent in the arabic language?

Why isn't 'phonetic' (or should that be bhonetic..) spelt the way it sounds?

reason why some pronounce 'F', 'P' ... Pipe [Five], Beeb [Beef] ... :)

The fact of not having the letter P in arabic language is not an excuse of not pronoucing the letter P in the right way.

Do we have the letter V in arabic? Whay do we pronounce it in the right way and not the same for P?

Actually confusion in pronouncing P as B concerns only for Arabic countries having English s second language. If speak to a people from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania you will notice that.

I feel it is dificiency since first steps of learning English language. I have met some well educated people and even English Teachers having the same problem.

fan_ni_sarap said yes ...

Yes there is no letter P in arabic alphabet. The nearest letter that sounds like P is B. Like papa=baba etc.

Thats the correct answer..

A particular region in the Phils. interchanges F for P and vice versa. We have language idiosyncracies the same as anybody else's. Even native english speakers like the americans. Hard for them to pronounced 'peeved', and instead they use the vulgar word for urinated to express anger- I'm pissed. I wonder what term they would use if they're really very angry? :)

I notice that in egyptian workers in Jordan long time ago.

But here in Qatar I noticed another issue. Philipine ppl dont pronounce 'F', they pronounce as 'P'... is this general, or only ppl around me?

- I'll go back to Spain soon...

- Oh! When do you 'play'? (instead of fly)
