Qatar is all set to officially unveil the fourth match-ready FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadium tomorrow, December 18.

The Amir Cup final between Al Sadd and Al Arabi will mark the inaugural match of the world-class stadium.

The inauguration of the Al Rayyan Venue takes place exactly two years before the country hosts the FIFA World Cup final in 2022.

With excitement building up for the official launch of the Al Rayyan Venue, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) said in a statement that the inauguration of the visually stunning and culturally important stadium, "symbolizes the dawn of a new era for a proud, football-loving community."

This spectacular 40,000-capacity venue has been established on the site where Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium once stood.

It will be a particularly proud moment for supporters of Al Rayyan Sports Club, as they will have the opportunity to witness football’s showpiece event take place on their home turf, the SC said.

Before it hosts seven matches during Qatar 2022 up to the round of 16 stage,  the stadium's first glimpse will be seen as it stages the Al Sadd and Al Arabi final tomorrow.

As one of Qatar’s most historic cities, Al Rayyan is known for its love of tradition and culture.

And it was those inspirations that Ramboll used in their design process for the stadium. The result is a venue that tells the story of Qatar in a spectacular way, the SC statement adds.

“Respecting the history of both Al Rayyan and Qatar was an important design objective,” said Ramboll Project Director, Alan Tweedie.

“Our stadium architect, Pattern Design, spent considerable time at the conceptual stage researching the history and culture. This included investigating the history of the Al Rayyan region itself. We ended up presenting four conceptual options and the chosen design was in the end a mix of many attractive options within each of the distinct proposals.

“One of the key features of the final design is the five decorative patterns and shapes that are found within the stadium façade and around the precinct.

"These patterns acknowledge the importance of family in Qatari culture, they reflect patterns associated with the desert and wildlife that thrives there, and they also reflect historical patterns seen in Qatar that have their origin in the international trade that lies behind Qatar's economic success over the centuries.

"The shield pattern, associated with Al Rayyan itself, weaves together all of the other patterns and represents loyalty, unity and perseverance," Tweedie highlighted.

The SC earlier shined a spotlight on the five key facts about the stadium set to leave fans with a memorable experience.

The Al Rayyan Venue is set to reach 50 percent capacity tomorrow as it hosts the Amir Cup final, the Organizing Committee of the Amir Cup had announced.

Among other measures to ensure the safety of all attending the match, fans must return either a positive COVID-19 antibodies test or a negative COVID-19 test prior to being allowed access to the stadium.
