Three-pronged attack on Qatar WC

More bad news for Qatar's world cup:

"Qatar’s successful bid to host the 2022 World Cup faces a multi-pronged attack with FIFA’s decision to investigate the country’s bid, fresh bribery allegations and imminent trade union action in protest of Qatar’s treatment of foreign workers constructing tournament-related infrastructure."

Fresh investigations into bribery charges, audits, and now trade union protests globally--can it get any worse??? No wonder construction of all these stadiums is not racing forward.

They will deliver alright..all their fancy stadiums, lights, fire works, belly dancers and what not. Grrr never mind we will see when the time comes what Qatar does...makes not sense talking about this now.

I have total faith that they will deliver - mostly through outsourcing..

It will be difficult for FIFA to take it away now unless they have a very good reason. Qatar would probably sue for costs and damages and FIFA loves money and loves keeping it even more.

Oh will they? And then what? reach outside the stadium to be told Stadium is full you cant go inside? Qatar cant handle a Qatar vs Lebanon match you think they will be prepared for FIFA?

We are not talking billiards , but Football (soccer) :O)

The EPL alone is worth 8 billion a year. Supporters will turn up , even if it was held in Siberia ...

They can win the bid, bribe all they want. But if the world does not show up there is nothing Qatar can do about it. What is Qatar doing to achieve this? With the rules in place as an outsider looking at Qatar i wouldn't want to be anywhere near this place let along travel half way across the globe to not be able to enjoy FIFA the way its supposed to be.

The simple fact is that they have won the bid and no one is going to take it away from them..

This always happens to the countries awarded... But Qatar do not give up... We are with u Qatar... We will make it happen... Have a wonderful day and Qatar all set for the fight.... :)

boring now...

all I wish is for winter WC 2022, which is still achiveable.

and why they need a stadium to be ready by 2015? 7 years of Maintenance Cost??

Well whether they like it or not this is not going to stop. All WC succesful bids get attacked one way or another and where is the work on the first stadium? In the original bid it was supposed to be up and running by 2015. Can't see that happening now.
