Add five years to your life
Why do women live longer, on average, than men? If you're a real male chauvinist, it's because men work harder, lead more stressful lives and sacrifice everything for their families. Obviously.
Or worse still, it's because many men end up with nagging, ungrateful, money-grabbing women, who bleed them dry while living a life of shopping and pedicures. Why do married men die before their wives? Because they want to.
Which is all nonsense, of course. But it's a bona fide fact that women live longer than men. According to the Office for National Statistics, a girl born today in the UK will live, on average, nearly five years longer than a boy born at the same time.
The same is true around the globe. In most countries and cultures, women live longer than men. And if you want further evidence that, as men, we're doing something badly wrong, consider this: among people over 100 years old in the industrialised world, 85% are women.
The good news is that the difference in life expectancy between British men and women is actually reducing. Which just goes to show that there's nothing set in stone about it, and there's quite a lot you can do that might add years to your life.

PS and Kareena you should both look for younger men than yourself to ensure you not expire before him..:)Morning..:)
There are more widows in this world than widowers.. And the widowers would have usually lost their wives to illness or accidents rather than old age whereas the widows usually would have lost their husbands mostly to old age or age related illness.
That women should marry a guy five years younger to her so that they can die more or less the same time instead of getting married to a man 10 years older than you so that you don't end up being a widow for a lage part of your old age... Actually it is true.. My both grandfathers died ages ago and now my both grandmothers have been widows for nearly twenty years.. They were around 5 years younger than their husbands.. They are now in their late eighties.
If going to heaven, this would mean that men get an extra 5 years there.
O thats not good news..
I don't want someone i love die before me..I can't take it.:( I better die first...
MBK--it's if they are married (and stay married) after a certain age. I think it is somewhere around 60. Divorce negates it. LOL brit.

The life-expectancy gap is closing as women enter the workforce, which suggests the stress involved in working outside the home reduces life expectancy. The other issue is testosterone, which gives men strength and virility in their youth, but makes them bald and cancerous in old age. BTW--men used to live longer than women on average, but then childbirth became much safer in the past two generations. Also, men who marry life longer than men who don't, whereas women who marry live shorter lives than those who don't!
This line is funny: "Why do married men die before their wives? Because they want to" but the main question is that "is it true that all married ppl want that!?"
