What OS are you using? i have a 2.0.2 (unlocked and jailbroken) i want to upgrade it to 3.0

One thing that is stopping me from doing it, is, I dont know if it will still work with a Qtel SIM after upgrading and unlocking it again.. On a simpler note, i dont know if Qtel (or any other)SIM will be able to work on a high verion of firmware.

anybody tried upgrading? please help.. thanks..

True RS.. its the best product i ever had... and for that matter anything by Apple. and the fact is Apple making 47% profit on every iPhone, just coz they are best in the design...still worth paying for that....

Thanks Shyams - will see if I can get hold of a kit.

Am very disappointed to be without the iPhone as I really like it. One of the coolest products on the market in my opinion. That goes for just about anything Apple makes.

Does anyone know how to open an an iphone?

My 3G iphone got dropped on the floor recently and the screen filled with stripes of vaious colours and didn't respond to touch.

I am hoping that a connector has come loose inside, hence the question. Obviously if the screen is broken, that's another story. Makes me wonder how well iPhone screen stand up to hard knocks.

Any help appreciated.

You can jailbreak your phone and it will work perfectly with QTel, mime does. OS3.1.2 is fine and you will notice how much less battery it uses. I get 4-7 days out of mine here. (Turn off push though). It is not, apparently, illegal to jailbreak a phone just against the terms and service. Plus with jailbreak you can download xGPS and have a decent working gps system for far less than the rip-off price of a Garmin here.

stay on.. 3.0 sucks battery power. Apple is still working on it so as on 3Gs. so stick on with 2.2.

Make sure the firmware u choose that can be Jailbroken & unlocked then start the process, as of now 3.1 & 3.1.2 can be jailbroken but cannot be unlocked.

remember apple firmwares are very strong cannot be downgraded once u upgraded it, find a person who knows about it well, you may hire a person from QL classifields, there are many ppl doing it with a service charge.

hope below chart wuld give u more info about jailbreaking & unlocking firmware wise:-

I'm on 3.0 software on an iPhone 2G. It is buggy so if you can wait I would. Many people had wifi/bluetooth problems after the upgrade. 3.0 is jailbroken but you'll need to use pwnage on your phone to allow the 3.1 jailbreak to work. Check out the hackintosh forums for more info.

I had mine upgraded to 3.0 recently, as my iphone had frozen , so i took it to shop and they upgraded it anyway for me, and it's working fine ... I took it to Phone King (i think that's the name) on Al Nasr Street
