Bank to focus on Qatarisation
Commercialbank recently welcomed 23 Qataris, who have been recruited specifically to support the bank’s growth and expansion strategy, which has generated increasing employment and career development opportunities.
“This sustained drive to recruit and develop Qatari talent is in line with the bank’s commitment to Qatarisation,” Commercialbank said.
The bank’s Human Resources department has created a special team whose prime focus is to identify, recruit and retain Qatari talent.
Commercialbank head (Talent Management) Khalid al-Haji said: “Commercialbank is committed towards training, developing and cultivating its Qatari employees. As young Qataris join the bank, they quickly notice this commitment and the importance that is placed upon it. We actively encourage talented Qatari employees to take advantage of the many training and development programmes available to them, programmes that include all aspects of banking and are specially focused in improving their skills and abilities in the workplace.”
He said it was “important to know that many rising stars have already successfully completed our graduate and management developed programmes and have been appointed in senior specialised banking and key business positions. Moreover, many have benefited from scholarships to training centres offered by renowned banks or courses in banking and administration in top international universities.
“The opportunities for Qataris in Commercialbank are huge because we genuinely consider this as an essential investment in our business as our greatest resource is our people.”
Hamad Salem al-Shekili, Commercialbank Qatarisation manager, spoke about establishing a career development plan for all new Qatari recruits. This is in line with the bank’s policy to place them across various posts commensurate with their qualifications, abilities and interests, he added.
“As soon as a Qatari is recruited by Commercialbank, he or she is consulted with and guided towards specific roles, and accordingly a career development plan that suits the candidate’s potential and interests is chalked out. Commercialbank sees the development of Qataris as a strategic business initiative to increase competitiveness in the marketplace. To this end, the bank aims to attract, develop and retain high calibre Qatari talent in line with the national average for Qatarisation year on year.”
Commercialbank Deputy CEO Abdulla al-Raisi said the bank was “fully committed to Qatarisation, thus developing nationals who will one day become future leaders and financial decision makers.
“Our Qatarisation policy focuses on ensuring Qataris are recruited in all departments of the bank’s operations. Attracting, developing and retaining qualified nationals forms an integral part of our recruitment policy and we are committed to the development of local talent, enabling young nationals to achieve their fullest potential,” he said.
“We are keen to ensure that as many Qataris as possible join us to work towards maintaining the important role our sector has in the country’s economy. Our main aspiration is of embedding quality and competent Qatari staff into permanent senior roles within Commercialbank.
