Breast implant scare

I read this article in the Gulf News about how Qatar health officials are downplaying the recent scare over breast implants.

http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/qatar/qatar-downplays-breast-implant-scare...

I've seen it in the news in Europe for a while--France is suggesting they be removed, UK is not--but this is the first I have seen it in relation to Qatar. The story is that the implants are made of industrial grade, rather than medical grade, materials which means risks of ruptures, which cause serious health problems, including cancer.

The question I had in relation to this, is how common are breast implants in Qatar? In the UK, some 30,000 women have had implants from this company alone, so it is pretty common. I never thought of it as being common in the Arab world.

Plastic surgery is VERY common in this region. I'm sure quite a few women are panicking about this.

A British company is developing computer chips which store music in women's breast implants.

This is a major breakthrough, since women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them o_O!

It is disappointing that women are encouraged to believe they need such enhancements.

I support breast implants and my ideal world would be a society where most women have double Ds.

Does this make me a pervert?

IF so, giggty

Brit, one very amazing cheap thing that makes beauty inside (confidence) and out, in so many things, is surprisingly one of the things that people avoid. Exercise :) And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

2012, you have to be a guy. Sorry but as a woman who has been inside a few beauty salons, I will say with honesty ME women pay MORE and have MORE done than I had ever heard of before moving here! Skin bleaching is one example I had NEVER come across except for medial reasons before coming here, and don't get me started on how much WAXING is done! that was a real shocker!!

A friend who's a plastic surgeon told me the other day that breast implants and plastic surgeries in general are becoming more popular in this part of the world.

Let's remember that these implants are also used for those who have suffered from mammary tumors, once the cancer is removed, they also need to remove everything else and these implants could make the breasts look as normal as they were.

Not as common in ME. WOmen here have more modesty and natural beauty. Does happen though, especially after breast cancer in some women or mostly for medical reason IMHO. A lady's response can be more clearer on this.
