Is the Cambridge Diet available in Doha?
By timebandit •
Man I have got to get some weight off. My shirt buttons are really pulling today :(
I want to use the Cambridge Diet, and this requires Cambridge Diet products.
Does anyone know of a supplier here in Qatar? I know there is one in Dubai, but I am guessing that food products (which of course they are) will be difficult to import.
Yes I also know there are plenty of alternatives, and I have tried loads before. The Cambridge Diet is the one I want to try next ;)
Hi, can some one let me know if they are following the Cambridge Weight plan diet and the price? i was quoted 1235 QR forr the initial consultation and includes food for 2 weeks.
Thanks for your feedback.

Try the Diet Center timebandit. They'll prepare your meals for you and that will give you more time to exercise.
Ah.... thanks newboy... that answers all of my questions in one go. Take one gold star and go and sit at the front of the class ;)
hi No its not but is in Dubai I had some shipped in from UK; getting it via customs was a challenge and it cost a fortune in postage
400 calories a day ?
I get a whiff of an aroma and put on weight :O(
timebandit,
that's all temporary illusions.
you'll end up paying the bill soon or later.
ps. exercising must be part of the daily routine, just like meals are. choosing to get away from either one, will end up bring you unwanted consequences.
it's your choice.
lol TB.. :P
MJ if I had time I would say lets go walking (Jogging would most certainly see my demise), but I don't even have time for that. I have a lovely big pool at my disposal and I only get to use that once a week :(
I know where you are coming from Nic, but my schedule allows for very little of what is required. So I have to do something. I need some hunger blocking tablets or something. Or a gastric band sounds good.
timebandit,
It’s all about the metabolism, it slows down with age.
If you continue eating and drinking what you used to eat and drink when you were in your 20's, the extra kilos will be easily gained.
Realistically and no matter what "they" tell you. You only have two options:
- increase your metabolism rate
- reduce the food and beverage intake
The first one, you achieve with regular cardio exercise;
The second one should never be the solution itself.
A combination of both is the only option you have to continue living healthy and in shape.
all diets are an illusion, even if you loose weight, your metabolism rate sharply decreases and as soon you start eating normal portions, you'll get as fat if not more than before.
TB, let's go jogging.. :P
Cheers Nic... but if I don't do something soon, I think I am going to die anyway ;)
for your info:
"The Cambridge Diet is a controversialvery low calorie diet involving severe calorie restriction combined with nutritional supplementation. It was developed in 1970 by Dr. Alan Howard at Cambridge University, United Kingdom as a method of rapidly shedding weight while reducing loss of lean body weight.
The core principle of the diet is severe calorie restriction, as low as 400 calories/day, combined with supplements of minerals, vitamins and fatty acids to reduce the loss of nutrients typical of severe calorie restriction. However, experts note that some essential nutrients may still be lost, leading to potential problems such as heart arrythmias and other side effects.
As a result, it is claimed that the diet in its original form has contributed to a number of deaths."

timebandit,
It's hard to believe that you still believe that you will get fit from the outside and inside by replacing a healthy and balanced diet and daily exercises with some chemical products!
Once you've reached 30, there are no easy short cuts, no matter what "they" tell you!
I'm not an exercise buff as well, but the weather's definitely getting better and hopefully will finally be able to start exercising even if it's just a jog around the park.. ;)
Ok before any more well intentioned eating and exercise tips start arriving. Let me point out that I leave home at 6:20 in the morning, and don't get back home until 8:30 in the evening. Cooking is out of the question, and all I want to do is fall into bed so exercise is out as well.
The Cambridge Diet uses convientient, safe and efective products that I can fit into my day, and have great results. That is why I am looking for a supplier here. Heck if I can't find one I may even find a Qatari to start a company importing the stuff.
TB, I gotta try that... :P
just have a daily walk on the corniche, dont go to bed just after dinner. those two should solve your problem...
MJ I know people who use the Cambridge Diet to great effect back in the UK. And I am envious, and want some of that for myself.
I have no idea.. but I was told "The Diet Shop" along Salwa road works for some.. ;)
is this Cambridge diet effective? I gotta try this.. :P
