Cat Hideouts
I am have come across this strange situation lately, and i am so helpless to find a solution to this problem. I have landcruiser a which i park in my ground floor parking of my flat. Now the problem, I rarely open the hood of my car and normally i am those who start and drive kind of people. Last week, i was cleaning my car and decided to open the front hood and was shocked to notice cat paw marks in the engine compartment of my car. The paw marks were all over the radiator fan, between the fan belts and it often slept on the right side of the engine compartment that houses the power steering fluid. Taking benefit of doubt, i though this could have just happend just once so cleaned and sprayed the entire engine with a polish to see if this happens again, and today morning the story was the same. i noticed lots of cat fur as well and i am scared that it could have a horrible dead just incase i decide to start the vehcile when i am in hurry. The entry passage for the cat is the left side bottom opening which houses the superhot engine exhaust manifold. Probably its kept so open maybe becoz it heats up while the engine is running and this is what has made the access entry for that cat in get in. Now I am looking for solution which i really cannot find. If anyone can give me some serious expert commets on how to get rid of this cat, coz i am worried one day or the other it could have a painful death and ruin the engine of car.
I am getting annoyed and i am trying to find a humane way to get rid of this problem. As winter seems right at the corner, i am worried the cat would find a nice warm cosy corner sooner or later. Can you please advise me a possible solution, does anyone catch cats here, please help me... before its cooked to death.. in pain and agony.
Thanks..
Sheri
Cat's are amazing creatures, they will always find somwhere comfy and warm to have a nap. Having said that I had a similar experience with a kitten. I discovered him in my engine when I got to work, thank goodness he endured the ride which was about 20km, unscathed but pretty shaken up. I think he was just small enough to hide in a small enough space. I kept him and callled him Thursday as that was the day I found him in my engine. When you get into your car just give the engine a few good rev's and if there is a kitty in the engine, it should zoot out pretty quickly.
In my country if we notice this happening, we get into the habit of banging the hood of the car before getting in and starting up.
Will it guarantee that nothing untoward will happen? Not 100% but it will give the cat fair warning that they should be on the move.
i know how u feel my friend, but a certain cat was not so fortunate when this same thing happened to my dad! and he didnt even know about it until the car started to give a bad rotting smell and u can easily make out dead cat smell, or may be i can coz my dogs used to kill a lot of them :(
Good Fortune always comes knocking at your door...when you are sh*tting in the toilet!! :)
