The most revolting thing I find when sitting at the table to have a meal is ppl chewing with their mouths open and make sounds like a camel when they chew, is this a cultural thing or has it got to do with the way u were raised?
Old dumb 1 and I quote (I dont understand when their brain going to light up. when they going to learn to RESPECT OTHERS, in culture wise, religiouse, or atleast as human being..)
Make sure u understand wht u write, cause as for my culture eating tht way is not acceptable...gerrit
You noisy, munching papadom eater. The simple answer is as I do.. Put a cardboard box over your head.. This will contain the noise and you can munch away :O)

When you are at home, it's ok to eat however you like to eat. That's nobody's business. But when you eat outside (example: restaurants), it is not ok to eat with a big sound and with mouth wide open. It is just disgusting. Be considerate also to others. This is not rocket science actually. Even at grade school, they also teach these basic things. My teachers at grade school taught us good manners and proper behaviour in public. And that is a grade school in a third world country. So no excuses. It is definitely has something to do with upbringing. Isnt it better to correct ourselves rather than insist on twisted reasoning?
I can never blame it on culture, cos I'm yet to find a whole race or nation of people lacking identical good manners. It's simply an individual thing and may have been influenced by upbringing and/or peers or simply a bad trait they were never able to shake off.
not used to it. But to others, it's a normal thing. Of course one needs to adapt to the place where you eats. If you dine here, the Chinese will learn to eat silently. But if you are in China, you can not complain if you eat silently and they eat with sounds.
I had a couple of chinese friends back home, but not all of them eats with that sound, flor1212, so i guess it has nothing to do with race, culture or whatever but it is clearly more of an upbringing or how they were raised.
U see, I don't mind belonging to the munch & crunch group. In fact, to me I like people who enjoy their food when they eat & display it as well..............hehehe..........shor na machaya, toh maja nahin aaya...............hehehe
No offense meant, but i find it a bit irritating if i hear a loud chewing noise as well...it's a different noise when eating chips that cracks...
I guess they are right, it is how you were raised, same with pink hippo, we were told to keep our mouth shut when chewing our food when we were kids.
But i noticed, people who have dental braces (especially newly placed) eat that way as it is kinda painful (that's what my friend told me) as for those who have false teeth, i am not that sure though ;)
Nothing more off putting than seeing what someone else is eating..I think it's definitely the way you are raised..My brothers and i were always told to keep your mouth shut when eating as kids,i have told mine the same ..
there are some nonsence moving around in QL and in Qatar (like SPYBOT).
Whatever nonsence they do that is right, whatever the others do and they didnt like, then that is utterly, culterless, bla bla bla..
I dont understand when their brain going to light up. when they going to learn to RESPECT OTHERS, in culture wise, religiouse, or atleast as human being..
It has got nothing to do with culture. It is the way how you were raised. If you are taught such etiquettes in your childhood by your parents you will not do it and your children will follow what you taught. chak chak chak like a camel? You got it when you were a child.
There are two interpretations of your post. Firsly, they have no social etiquettes, but they are not complainting. Second, you have hell of ettiquettes, but are a grumbling complainting old cow which I think is the worse trait.Live your life & let other's live theirs. And leave that 'holier than thou' attitude.

Lack of basic manners, as simple as that. Those are the same people who dig in their nose for treasure and spit in public.
Sophistication requires one to be silent as far as possible..be it eating, snoring, smooching, farting or even making love on a creaking cot..:)
well you can move to another table if it disgusts you.

It's a disgusting habit and parents should teach children table manners at a young age.
not Chinese! You know the difference?
cant blame the parents.. its totally individual habit... and it is well despised
