Guys......

This is a topic that's been bothering me for quite a while now.........

Is the site "piczo" safe for children to set up websites on and to post their pictures on etc......Is it safe if they are on safe mode and they have a password for entry??

Does anyone have info?

Also are their any cautionary tales to tell to the youngsters that might register???

I will be most gratefull for any imput u all might have...

I work in this area, and I would not let my child do it. I would not let my child have their own computer in their room, the Internet is a great place and a SCAREY place. When they turn 18/21 and on their own, off to college, etc then they can decide, at my house, I monitor the Internet usage of children.

Not because I don't trust them, but I have seen the other people on the Internet, them I don't trust!

It's all the rage since they learned how to do it at school...It's the in thing.

Would you let your child walk around alone at city center for a couple of hours while you went to the beach? Being a child means they will not always make good decisions, the Internet is a dangerous place for children and they, at times, don't know the difference.

Why does your child need a wedsite? Give the reason a good look over.

I think it's fine for the kid to have a site - as long as you make sure that they not giving your villa number to some sicko...

A good parent would not let a child post anything on the web of a personal nature. Don't do it, be the parent in charge.

I had a quick search and it seems to be a fairly serious site with protection built in. Attempt to "sign" someone's guestbook, and you see a warning that they know who you are - or at least what computer you're working from. Only one related news story that I could see, from the British sunday Times in February that was concerned by privacy problems in respect of another site, but not piczo.

Basically it seems like a mini-social networking site for kids. If they put a password on it should be fine but they should only give the password out to family/friends (and they should not give out THERE OWN password).

The one thing that would worry me is that I can't actually find a persons name on the site (like the owner of the company).

The main thing you need to control is what information your kids put up - make sure that they don't post anything that could be used to personally identify them (address, phone number, last name)...

I also don't know the site, but I wouldn't be happy for my kids to put their picture and personal info on a website, no matter how secure. Too many weirdos out there!

I'm a cynic I know

I´m sorry LIli, I don´t know the site... I would say it is safe as long as children do not put any personal details...

sorry I cannot help, hope someone else can
