Clubs in Doha

Hiya all!

I just wanted to give you feedback about clubs and health centers in Doha. I passed by each club and enquired about facilities and services:

1. MEMBERSHIP COST
- Marriott Hotel (The Spa) / QAR 4,800
- Doha Club / QAR 5,700
- Shiraton Hotel / QAR 5,900
- The Four Seasons Hotel / 12,000 QAR
- Dana Club / QAR 4,200
- The InterContinental / QAR 6,500
- Diplomatic Club / QAR 7,000 (i guess so)
- The Ritz-Carlton (The Spa) / QAR 11,000

2. SWIMMING POOL & GYM
- Marriot: Quite small & no indoor pool / Gym is quite small too
- Doha Club: Big pool but no indoor pool / (have no idea about gym)
- Shiraton: Meduim pool but no indoor pool / (have no idea about gym)
- Four Seasons: Meduim pool & no indoor pool/ small gym
- Dana Club: Big outdoor pool & small indoor pool/ meduim gym
- InterCon: Big pool but no indoor pool/ meduim gym
- Diplomat: small pool but no indoor pool/ meduim gym
- Ritz: Meduim outdoor pool and big indoor pool/ meduim gym

3. TENNIS COURT
all of the clubs have outdoor courts exept for Ritz (indoor courts)

There are frustrating things in some clubs;
- Marriott: You have to wait for membership acceptance (a week or more)
- Doha Club: Singles under 30 years old are not accepted
- Shiraton: Fully booked and have to wait until year 2007
- Four Seasons: haveing problems with tennis courts ground and no indoor pool
- Dana Club: They don't accept singles.
- InterCon: Fully booked (you have to wait for 5 months) and crowded
- Diplomat: expensive for such small and limited facilities
- Ritz: Beach is not available (because of constructions of Lagoon Plaza)

Well, I hope this is a useful information to you chaps.

Cheers!

Dear all,

Happy New Year!

We are a family of 3 with a daughter aged 27 months living in the old airport area.Looking for some serious outdoor activities...Can anybody suggest reasonably priced family clubs near the area?

Thanks, and good day folks!

This might be a silly question: For the hotel memberships, does the fee include use of their spa, tennis lessons, discounts in their restaurants or room discounts?

Are the costs for the clubs per annum and for the entire family, we are 2 adults and 2 children?  If not how would those costs work?

Do the costs include all access, to gym, pool and beach?

Sorry NiceGuy .. but I think Oasis is a bit old and disgusting .. I didn't want to check out thier facilities :)

The Ramada has an OK gym with weights, rowing machines and all the usual, plus a pleasant pool which allows about 15m straight-line swimming. Annual m'ship is 6,000 for families and 5,000 for singles, all subject to a 375/- registration fee. They also have one, three and six month packages.

Haven't been there for a while, but the Oasis's large gym always seemed a bit scruffy and indifferently maintained and women I knew preferred the greater comfort of the Ramada or Sheraton.

Garveys has a small but clean, new gym, and the Rugby club has a lot of free weights.

I agree with Laudgi7 Beast666.

If you are looking for a gym only then go to Gold's Gym.

I've heard good things about the facilities at the Ramada...anyone have any info on that? A couple of friends of mine are moving there in August and said they plan to join the Ramada because it is close to their villa. Anyone know the rates at the ramada?
