Complete and utter madness!
Well today I have seen it all!! I was driving along "C" ring road en route to work and I checked my rear view mirror and to my shock saw a baby behind the wheel of his father's car!!! The baby was holding the steering wheel as his father controlled the accelerator and brakes. Naturally the car was swerving from left to right, from lane to lane.
I could not believe my eyes. Luckily as we approached Ramada Junction, the lights were in my favour and changed to red. I noted the guys registration number and got out of my car. I went straight over to him and asked him to wind down his window.
I told him what he was doing was not only illegal but extremely dangerous for his child and every other driver on the road. He turned to me, strugged his shoulders and asked me "what is your problem"!
No brain cells, no clue! These people shouldn't be allowed to be parents. If I could, I would have taken that poor kid away from that idiot.
Now tell me.....can I report him? How do I go about it? I do have his registration number.
To everyone out there - be safe. Drive carefully, wear a seatbelt and make sure adult and child passengers are wearing seatbelts.
Ignorance is NO excuse.
belive me ,im from the gulf area but i also feel sorry for those people cause they did grew up without really good instruction of what is wrong and what is right..!!
from there point of view , the kid should learn and become a man and don't be afraid of anything...im really shocked with what is the measure to become a man in this area,my father is a simple guy but was always open minded and always give us instruction of bad things and right things ..its that simple when you grew up knowing that then you will become a really positive and active member in the socaity..
"Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret."
but the numbers of cars on the road now must be much much higher than your childhood age...
I used to be that kid when i was 8 years old or so! :o)
But at least my dad is not as cruel as that guy!
We don't do that on the highways! Peace! :]
cheers,
paul
Why do you think the families here have so many children? They're constantly replacing the ones that fall out of the cars or die in car accidents.
many people drive crazy when they are in the car alone too. I've seen couples driving very expensive cars with the wife holding a new born in her arms. Nothing surprises me here anymore.
having money is one thing, being educated is an other.

agree on baldrick2dogs point, a picture can help...personally i never allowed my 2 year old son to be in front seat while driving.
Unfortunately that seems to be the norm here in Doha - what also irks me terribly is that parents don't even bother to strap their children in when they're driving. It's almost like these poeple are rabbits and can reproduce another baby as soon as one is killed.
Dohacat - your word against his. Did you take a photo?
Did you Google it first?
Qatar has a population of just around 200 000, why do you think it is only that much?

on my compound i have seen parents let the kids drive the cars...
saw a guy going up al Waab with not one but TWO toddlers on his lap the other day.....
well, believe what your eyes are seeing.... coz they ain't playing tricks on you, i saw the very same last week, cant remember the day, but it was not a very pretty sight... the little kid was right in front of the driver's seat with the driver.... to think why were they even allowed to drive if they act so stupidly like that...
