And NO it is not at all a taboo to talk on Hinduism. But geez...there are many aspects to Hindu religion other than Cow's urine and casts (second fav on QL). And it is discussed say about million times on QL. So, pls use the tab 'search'. The reason we all ganged on you was many of them post such topics only to stir sh*t. It eventually leads to bashing of certain nationality nothing else...

It is true that we think cow a sacred animal. In old times the cowdung was used in a thin coating on outer walls of a mud hut. It is said to be blocking the UV rays from sun. But now you won't be able to find the mud huts, let alone dung coating.
Cow's urine was used in Hindu rituals . Don't get confused with the word 'rituals', these are the same rituals as you people have like baptism, namimg ceremony, sunday mass etc etc. We call it 'Puja' i.e. worship. And as you know our culture is 5000 years old, we have 1000's of rituals. Again it is not at all forced . It is the matter of one's wish. Educated people nowadays don't perform any.
In ancient times, at the start of any ritual the Hindu Brahmin priests used to give the Holy Water to each attendent to make his soul pure (hahahaha, even I can't stop laughing at such rituals). This Holy Water or solution (say something like the wine they give in a church)consisted of Milk, Yoghurt, Ghee, Sugar, Honey and a little drop of Cow's urine. But nowadays no one uses cow's urine. The solution is made with remaining 5 ingrediants.
Please don't think that if you visit a Hindu family they will offer you a glass of chilled cow's urine or the sweet made with cow's urine. This info is actually new to me that we add CU to sweets. And yes if you come to my home you can definitely shake hands with me as I neither have touched CU in my entire life nor I have seen any of my friends or family members doing it.
I really get upset with such issues raised again and again on QL. I have never visited USA in my life so, to know more about them should I post topics like 'Do you think Americans are dumb?' Should I give excuse that there are 100's of clips on Youtube on how dumb they are? India is no more a country of snake charmers dude! We are educated now and you certainly know that.

On Hindu Religion treats Cow (Gao mata) as mother/God - with a scientific Spine of course....
Cow is suppose to give you the Following -
1. Milk - From milk - Yogurt, Butter, cheese etc etc..
2. Cow Dung - Used as fuel,fertilizer in farms (exported to Australia too..as the cow dung in Australia doesn have bactria tht can digest/break the cow dung into fertilizers...) and unlike human Dung.. it doesn smell at all.. thks to this little bacteria which resides...
3. Urine - is not to drink. (but have read wht brites n shreya said... drinking yours is recommended medically.. but also saw on discovery channel it should be consumed within 20 30 mins after taking it out.. else the amonia acts funny and its no more good/recommended medically)
4. Calfs - Which become Bulls later where to cultivate/plough farms... to have them ofcourse you need to respect and love there mother too.
5. Cow is one animal which was vital for the pre-mechanical civilization... it used to give so much ...
n in return jus expected love...
The unconditional love of a Cow has earned her place of a Mother and God in Hindu Civilization...

And Eating Non-veg (cow too) was never recommended in hindu religion as the country is abundantly filled with Vegitation which can feed not only humans but also the herbivorous animals habitating the land...
I was very curious to know how killing animal can be acceptable in a religion...

Why all the harsh words dude ? I've met many qatari here and never have I heard anyone speak like you. The qataris I have met are the most poliet and carefully spoken people I've ever met. I do agree that I may have worded the question incorrectly i.e. should have used the word Pakistani and not qatari but ease up tiger.
I saw a news report on it. It's true cows are sacred in India and Hindus drink cow urine. There is now a new soft drink in India made of cow piss - very popular! Cow dung is also used in buildings. HOLY COW!
I've done some more googling and although many sites state that Hindus dont drink it they do regard the Cow to be a way of thinking (interesting idea ...) and its product vital in every meal but yet some other site Hindus celebrate with Cow urine in sweet meats, etc.
Is it a taboo to talk about this issue ?
Its interesting how you attempted to archtype me on a few posts yet you wouldnt dare do that on yourself. The purpose of this thread was to find out more and thanks to the likes of ratedpg, the british chap and to some extent even shreeya (i.e. Hindus dont drink it), etc I now know more, but you seem to suggest that I shouldnt ask questions or I should only ask questions which 'you' deem appropriate and 'non-bashing'. This is a cowardly attitude to the state of play and will only reduces the understanding between communities which I guess is against the rason detre of this site! Thats why the sensible moderators dont get involved.
Dont try to control people by unhelpful comments because it may have worked in the school playground but doesnt in the real world.
