dark matters...

im surprised as to what extent people will do to have a whiter complexion.really.
is it too much to bear having been born dark skinned?
i have dark skin and im celebrating it.i dont have to feel bad or have low self-esteem just because of it.
opinions anyone?

East and West have different "standards".

in the east, you are considered to be well off if you have whiter skin because it means youre not working in the rice fields, etc.

in the west you are considered to be well off if you have dark skin because you can afford to go on a holiday spree under the sun.

They are just making that company making it, more richer. :)

It just a matter of personality whatever a person's skin color. Either you stand up from the crowd or you will be lost from them.

Ok, but don't these skin whitened bleached people look ridiculous, the matt effect is quite awful!....I'd stick to being dark really......I'm white but brown thanx to lashings of Hawaiian Tropic factor 2 oil.....

dark matters...for some who's concept of beauty is being "white". in my country most of the celebrities have undergone whitening treatments which make them more attractive or beautiful for the public. since these treatments are quite expensive, different industries are popping up such as whitening lotions, soaps, creams etc that would be affordable to the masses. and so there is a hype to whiten their skins.

for me...im contented with my fair or brown skin. i dont like putting on such chemicals coz im exposed to the sun most of the time and i feel it will do more damage.

I could get a tan. I am useless at it, get bored way too easily and it does not matter what I use, my legs never go brown. Most unfair.

My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.

Its very simple, the same thing happened in Europe 100's of years ago, remember the Jane austin - women with their parasols in the sun, pale skin meant your were upper class and you weren't a peasant working outdoors. There is the same thing in asian and south east asian countries where women hate to get a tan.

In the west the opposite is true, sun tan = wealthy and has money to travel.

a lot of people i meet where i work often ask me if i sell skin whiteners.

me,im celebrating my dark skin, never felt as if i had to use any medication to make me white.

im also not obsessed with my skin, but im fond of moisturizing it.lol.dry weather

I don’t know if someone hurt you with their negative comments, recently or as a child growing up, or you’re just obsessed with your darker skin and wished you had a lighter one (for some reason).

If you, internally, believe you don’t look good, it'll be too hard to help boost your self-esteem and you'll always feel fully or somewhat insecure about your own self image.

You need to identify why you’re restless about this issue, only then you can start addressing it.

Well my sister and cousins always complaining about getting tan and staying darker. From my side I am laying under sun at the beach to get tan and stay like that but it lasts max 2-3 weeks for me and I am becoming whiter again. Both sides are not low self esteemed. I could born in Africa, Asia or another part of the world with different skin color but it would not change who I am.
