My apology for trolling the post. Can not think of better way to nail this point to the local community without condemn. Long back I remember you hit on this behaviour. Normally I will distance from the wife when it happens in public. She picks the hint on my frown but not the others or I excuse myself from the group to smoke outside when decibel reaches inappropriate level. The irony must be clear and the stand still holds, I disagree.

Yes we could have good debates before. Many of those are still here under different guises. Now we have cliques and those who band together. There is less tolerance from both the old and the new..

I am not sure of old times as didnt had that much time to peep into but going by the QLers who continue to be nostalgic about pre 2009 days (assumed so since I came online and have been hearing since then how good those days were) it appears that they all came from the same background (read, with a particular set of ideologies and lifestyles) and so the debates wouldnt take the form and shape as they take now due to people from other backgrounds participating in it. Also it seems that being a start up phase of QL and the euphoria of getting connected to the people in an otherwise difficult place would have kept people under control so as not to offend someone.

However I would agree that the quality of posts is definitely quite poor (it has always been since I came online except for some good ones here and there) and it mostly and quite quickly moves into the zone of "I am better than you" and then all the drama, tantrums spills over thereby putting an end to a meaningful debate. And no one single person seems to be guilty of that...I think all of us sometime somewhere are guilty to some extent.

I agree With Miss Mimi agreeing with Adey :) The Site has never been the same since Gypsy and Mr Paul left..:)

I'm afraid to say nomerci.

It's hardly the bastion of open mindedness here....the site's problems are down to the quality of debate coming from its users.......if it gets personal insults, name calling, dating, love threads etc that's obviously what its users want.........the site gets the users it deserves and vica versa.

Other sites with less heavy handed moderation get along just fine.

To coin a phrase, it's a weak sauce site. And that's a shame as it used to be so good in the far distant past.

Wings, as long as I am not present, you all can talk as loud as you want.

If and when i am present, I would appreciate a more civilized noise level.

And everybody else would probably do too.

Mak, you are right, I want to know why certain threads are deleted. Is that attention seeking? If so, I am guilty. (I do not think it is though). I posted my first thread questioning the moderators when a thread another poster posted was deleted. I was bothered by quite a few threads being deleted lately, threads NOT posted by me.

QL guidelins are there, but does it say minor details or general Dos and Donts?? like a QLer recently posted that his thread was blocked coz he posted a drop box link .. I mean how are we supposed to know all that stuff ??

I suggest let's open a thread and everyone contributes there by sharing their knowledge about QL..

Community Guidelines were put together by old QL’ers and not [Mods]. It was a collective effort and we, Mods, try to implement it as much possible. These guidelines are subject to edit and change and further improvements. We welcome any suggestions and feedback that can improve the moderation of forums.

Let new ideas pour in this thread and we will update the guidelines accordingly.

The forums do need moderation and without it, it will be a complete mess. Spams adds, personal insults, name calling, dating, love threads, and a lot more would have been on main forums.

In the end, we are humans and prone to mistakes and wrong judgments. We don't have any personal agenda against any QL member.

It is tricky. With the amount of trolls trolling, it is tiresome to monitor threads and weed them out repeatedly.

I think owner of this site have done some new recruitments. I like what Mr.MOD is doing but there must some flexibility in the forum discussions.
