I think the mind set may be changing. People from the East are realising that they can move further West than the Gulf and that opportunities are greater there.

Eventually, employers in the Gulf may realise this and respond

Being a chartered accountant I do understand that u make sense and ,believe me I dont disagree with causes u just mentioned. However,my point is only one and that is in an organization every human being should be given wightege, oppertunities and prosperity according to his competence, regardless of his/her nationality or sex. I am only against this mind set of employers in Asian countries nothing else. Sounds funny to me when I see in same company a photographer from Canada earning more money and getting more facilities then a qualified engineer from Pakistan after so much hard work.

I know that this attitude and discrimination cant stop anyone who has got the telent and ability as in this world only the fittest survives.May be thts the reason I dont take it negatively heheheheeee, however still the mind set needs to be changed.

I agree that there may be strong arguments surrounding your case. However can you imagine any company paying more than they have to?

How many companys (ARAMCO is an example) differentiate by having different payrolls.

The vast majority of international organisations have nationality numerous payrolls (known as the balance sheet approach)

Econmics and multicultural aspects fair enough, however if a company here can pay higher to anyone from a western country it should also be prepared to compensate likewise an asian of the same competence.

Come on Deweller exploitation is not and can not be a reason for descrimination.

Hats off to Qatar Airways if there is no discremination there, and if they can acheive multicultural enviroment without practicing discremenation ,others can also do that I guess.

Aisha Thanks for being with me ,I appreciate.

It's a matter of economics, Asian (and other Eastern staff) are cheaper to employ.

On the other hand there may be a logical reason that Western staff are recruited at higher cost.

Well Of course its discriminating. And some good companies e.g. Qatar Airways r paying equally to all the employees irrespective of the nationalities.

Second part - why this difference-

1. Its difficult to convince the westerns to come here on the same pay as asians.

2. Its to provide the averege living standard of the country from which the person is comming.

3.Asians dont have much job opportunities in their own countries so they agree for the lower wages easily.

Demand and supply rule. When a lot of people r available from a place they will be agree on less wages.

Now why to hire westerns - when the people of same caliber r available from asia too on less wages...... To make the place multicultural and to utilize the skills and experiences of the people of the entire globe.

Despite all these reasons - its off course discrimination to hire on different salaries- for the same post.

Qatar airways is paying same salaries irrespective of the nationalities and still it is having a human work force comprising 93 nationalities of the globe.

Because its cheaper to convince an indian to leave his office in mumbai and come to doha then it is to convince a englishmen to leave his london office to come to doha. simple as that.

Won't take it in a negative way but why are you screaming? :p

no i dont think it has anything to do with how much one is expected to earn in their home country. i do agree that there is some injustice when it comes to discrepancies in paychecks for different nationalities but it has nothing to do with "undeserving westerners" or whatever it is people say.

it's pretty simple..in most western countries there are countless unions and professional bodies that would not hesitate to blow the whistle at the very hint of any discrimination. In this part of the world this is practically laughable, not to mention virtually non-existent.

Because we get pissed if we aren't paid as much as in our own country. Unfortunatly most Asians just take the crap the Middle East dishes out to them, Westerners won't do that.

Probably because it is line with what you get paid in your home country.

For example I get the same salary here as I was being paid in London.
