Don't You Think...

That it's a bit sad? So many people here of different races and from so many different cultures & countries, why is it that we can (apparently) only talk to each other openly, frankly and politely using an internet chat room? Do those of you who are actually in Qatar right now ever meet up socially and talk to each other as you are talking to each other here? What are your feelings on this?

sometimes, there is what we call the emergency, like now, ive called them, well, i must tell u, the friend that i have who has a car lives in doha, and it wouldnt be proper for him to come here just to bring me to grocery store, i hope, they would provide some taxis out here in al khor. soon...

I did not know u there r gatherings off the line..:)

Jasimine: Understand. next time, make sure u have enough for a week at least. as do for myself. I stay at home all the day avoiding going out, and shopping on the weekends for storage.

Can't u try to call a friend or someone as u mentioned the couples to save u for once?

honestly, at first it was alright, to live in al khor, our old villa was near all the grocery stores, walking distance. then they trasfered us to the farthest villa, very very far, the truth is, its the end of the road, if u happened to go to al khor, just follow the main road, when u reach the dead end, thats where i live right now. they trasfered us here because they gave our old villa to couple who have cars and all. as fro buying bikes, its very very dangerous, i will not think about it. RTA? and girls are not allowed to ride bikes here.

If you can buy a car then buy a bike.

Also for the issue you have with your company, this is not the place to complain. Take it up with them and if you do not like it leave. We have too many people who really suffer and need help. Poor uneducated people. You are definately not in that category.

well, they told us that we will be living in doha, the capital of qatar, of course all of us were thrilled, its the same as manila, where there is life, but then they relocated us to al khor, and no one will ever ever think that this place is good for a bachelor like me, or those who doesnt have family where they can buy cars or things like that. what made me so down and low today was, i need groceries, but no one from all our drivers is answering his mobile. and in times like this, all i wana do is have a puff. but how can i go, the next grocery store from my house is like 6 kilometers away.

This is the wrong thread for these comments, go and see your boss or buy an air ticket if you feel like this.

well, in the first place, there are lots of healthcare profesional like me who are assigned in al khor and yet they are living in doha, they put us here because they want to save on expenses for the location and transport allowance, as for buying a car, i dont have that capacity to buy a car. my point is, the basic things that are supposed to be provided to us, like public transportation are left unspoken, which is having a big toll on us. have u ever heard of, all work, no play, makes a guy dull? its the same with us. there must be a balance between professional life and social life, try living out here for a few weeks and lets see where it will get you? i hope you will not be referred to rumaillah hospital.

Well how about you getting a car then you dont depend on anybody else but your self.

Also if you dont want to be there, who made you come here in the first place. Be happy that you have a good job and earn good money rather than complaining about not having cigarettes. Or organize yourself better that when you go to a shop you buy enough to last you till you "get out" again. We hate winers.

have u ever wondered how it is to be living in a place where you dont wana be? they forced us to stay here in al khor, because as they say, this is where we belong, but i must tell u honestly, they totally, shut us out of the civilized world. like for now, i wana go buy some grocery, i had run out of cigaretes and i badly needed a puff, i was calling out all those drivers out there, but no one is picking up their phone? and i asked to myself, where in the f**king hell are those transports out there? just imagine our lives out here, we need to socialize at least, im bored here, i cant watch TV like all my life, it sucks.

i wish they would really put out some taxis here in al khor, doha is not the only place here in qatar.

...that's good and I'm glad to hear it. I am not in Qatar at the moment so I cannot take you up on your offer. But tell me, do your social gatherings include Qatari's and other GCC nationals who are working there?

there is a QL Social Group, which is meeting up quite regularly... at least once a week...you can find a lot of nice people here and by the time to meet real friends.. be active, post on line.. by the time when you gain certain amount of points, you will get knowing people on line, they will know you.. so meeting these people out of website will be more natural.. you will know who you would like to meet , who probably you wouldn't...keep posting..
