Driving to Muscat - is it OK

I am thinking of driving to Muscat or Dubai from Doha, can anybody give me advice on any pitfalls.

Do I need extra special insurance?

How long should it take? How far is it?

Are there scenic routes?

Should I stay on main roads? Is KSA safe

What if I went during Eid? Can it be done in a weekend?

For info, I am an expat - UK

Many thanx

Yes, fly and avoid Saudi Arabia. A straight run from the UAE is both pleasant and fun but going through Saudi is a hassle best avoided.

This has been discussed at length on previous posts. Suggest that you have a look through them.

This is atleast one node to follow.

Personally, I would fly and save all the hassle.
