Dubai or Abu Dhabi? (where do you prefer to relocate?)

Apple
By Apple

I need your advice, which of the place i mentioned above is best to relocate for work? My friend is asking me this question, but I dont have any idea of how the life it could be in these place? I told her to visit this site and I will open a thread in behalf of her.

She is interested to know:

1- Salary range for a mid-manager post, also for a medical employee?
2- Housing rate for a 2-3 bedroom flat?
3- Cost of living in general(monthly expenses) & others.

Anybody who have lived in Dubai or Abu Dhabi? Please put your insights. They prefer Abu Dhabi though.

Tnx:)))))

i was born and brought up in dubai, grew up there and love it like my own country but like i said abu dhabi is a much better option for married couples for various reasons, some stated above. earlier even i used to think dubai was better but the traffic, lack of transport and ever rising charges on everything government related and other, makes life difficult in comparision to abu dhabi. the only attraction dubai has is the malls and other activity centres as well as theme parks which are equally accessible to anyone living in abu dhabi. living in abu dhabi u can avoid the traffic jams and other problems and yet enjoy the attractions of dubai.

maybe ur sister in law misses her husband too much!

I've been in Abu Dhabi long time ago and it's pretty empty at the time. all the info I heard recently comes from my friends who lives there. My brother-in-law lives in Dhubai and his wife has accommodation in Abu Dhabi (she's an Ethihad flight attendant.) she preferred to live in Dhubai.

u thought qatar was better developed than abu dhabi??!!! shocking! we have just moved here from abu dhabi and sadly, regret the decision. abu dhabi was much nicer and organised. the infra stucture was way better.buildings and fittings were much better too and the rents are much less than here.

i have always loved dubai but abu dhabi is a much better family station. it is less crowded and more peaceful. the minimum travel time in dubai to the nearest destination is half an hour(thats if u are lucky). last year we were stuck in traffic at burjuman centre and it took us 45 min to get to the strand round about. usually it doesnt take more than ten minutes!

utility bills are much less in abu dhabi as compared to dubai. so are the taxi fares.

even though i spent just two years in abu dhabi i would choose abu dhabi over dubai any time!

Abu dhabi is much better place, high range of salary and much cheaper accomodation. Dubai is too crowded and expensive.

That honk only happens once and it's weekend lunch time last December. they are in their front yard.

rather than shouting to call my kids (which we're not allowed to do here) so, I honk at them and this guy is actually shouting at his Filipina maids and pick on me next! so my husband came out and just look at him and he didn't say anything but went inside his house. everyday he honk also. because he's annoyed with his maid he thinks he can treat all people like that? And yes we live in a compound.

Hey, Mystica, have you ever wondered why your neighbour gets so irate at you honking your car horn?

I don't know you, don't know whether you live in a compound or whether your neighbour has children.

But if your neighbour has children, they may take a nap, or even the adults in the family may take a nap, may take an afternoon siesta because of the heat and the sun. Lots of cultures have an afternoon siesta. Even some businesses in Qatar are closed for a long lunchtime.

If that's the culture of the Middle East, perhaps you're being inconsiderate by blasting your car horn and disturbing people.

Did it never occur to you that by interrupting people's peace and quiet and making a nuisance of your self in this way that you might be the one who is the wrong here, and not your neighbour who simply wants to enjoy their home in peace and quiet without nuisance neighbours being noisy and disruptive to the neighbourhood?

I don't know what exactly is going to be your job, but when I was there working in Abu dhabi on a six month contract, I did enjoy the town very much. Villas were cheaper. I like the idead of being away from the HUB. I wish you good luck and blessings If you decide to move on. I personnaly will move on and try it out. I don't like to stay in one place no more than two years. Even do I worked in Africa for four years ;) for which I did enjoy the traveling I did.

As for being a Filipina asking fair treatment is hard to tell who you will be working for.

If you are going to work in the heart of city, then Dubai will be the best sector. But If you are working about 1-2 hour drive from the city-hub then Abu-Dhabi. Abu-dhabi is growing fast and furious but still a very quiet palce to live away from the urban life of Dubai. You need to do a more efficient search with Dubai forums not Qatar forums. Dubai has changed monstrually since my last visit six months ago for 5 days only.

Yeah right! but watch out, while you're there for the next couple of years, make sure you've got another place to go. they are very proud people. they know people like to work in their country, so they don't value your services as they do here. I know that because here they are calm people and always treat my husband and I with respect simply because of how we response and appreciate their kindness towards us. Apart from the driving system :)nothing different in Dubai driving though, in fact it's more chaos in Dubai if you think some people lose their nerves to drive here, imagine in Dubai you'll lose your nerves completely. :) hi! hi! hi!

Lots of teacher's used to work in Dubai are now here. all we can hear is they're moaning that they don't give them special treatment as we do here. also in Dubai they hired and fired people after 1 contract as they want to keep changing Staff to change the atmosphere. watch out it's not along term job. You may find yourself looking for another job in a couple of years time. Unlike here and in Oman, unless you get into trouble then they have reasons to fire you and not just for the sake of changing atmosphere. As I kept saying learn to appreciate what you've got for now and it will lessen the tensions of boredom and learn to tighten your belt when it comes to expenses. (I wish I could listen to my own advice when it comes to spending money) hi! hi! hi!

I applied my hubby a job here in Qatar and while I'm browsing I check all different fields and Abu Dhabi seems to offer less than here in Qatar. like your field will earn half of the amount you mentioned to me before that you can get in Hamad. I knew that for sure because I found job for Mayfield's wife and she didn't take it because it's not worth it. The thing with my other friend who live there, he's got no choice but accept it because he was fired in Saudi.

Well that's the best part of UAE: you can enjoy your weekends in a diffirent "city" every weekend: Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaima without any visa of course... you can even visit Oman (but you might need a visa) which is just 4 hours drive on a highway from Abu Dhabi...

I have been in both cities

Dubai: a lot of fun and activities to do, but you will never be able to save up, traffic is really terrible, non stop life style, housing and life expenses very high

Abu Dhabi: Less fun, but cost of life is more reasonable, however the city is changing and they are investing a lot in the leisure sector

Personaly I liked Dubai better, however all my friends and their friends liked Abu Dhabi

...is a much easier city to get around than Dubai. The traffic in Dubai is stunningly horrible. Last year, they added 250,000 autos to the roads there. Last year they had 1,000,000, now they have 1,250,000...wow...that's nuts.

Dubai has some intersting things to do but it's only an hours drive from Abu Dhabi which I consider much nicer.

Both places have similar housing problems to Doha.

who live there says that the cost of living is the same as in Saudi. that means it's a lot cheaper than here, but Abu Dhabi is not as well developed as Qatar. I've seen it before when we went there for my husband's job interview he just reminded me, we've been there and he has to turned down the job offer because I don't like the look of the town. It's kind of boring, what shall I say? but there you go my friends love the quite environment of this City. I love noisy and busy City that's my secret of not getting board here. apart from my being loud:) hi! hi! hi!
