E-Gate Card
Does anyone know how to get an E-Gate card for the airport? The E-Gate Card Office does not issue it anymore. I asked around and was told that it must be done at the Qatari Embassy in my home country (where my passport is issued) and cannot be done within Qatar for foreign expatriates. Does anyone know anyway to obtain one within Qatar since the Embassy is located far away from where I live back at home. My recently issued ID is not the new Smart ID type, can I obtain an E-Gate card? If there is a way to get one within Qatar, do I have to find someone who can speak Arabic to go with me? Thanks.
Doha, The computer knows everything ....... the girls sitting there will know everything ....
If I have exited Doha by Egate, there is no stamp of Exit on the passport.
In case due to certain requirement I want to have the proof of my exit date from Doha, how can I get this information.
How can we retrieve data from Egate.
i have renewed my e gate card....but it does not work at the airport, although it is showing valid for one year from date. How can I resolve this plese, anyone?

Yes, I did get it a long time ago, at the main immigration office.
pls i just want to ask u did you get the E-Gate card now pls let me know
pls do i need to take my sponsor along with me or i can go my slf
What time does the office open? Are there any forms to fill out? (Obviously, I know no Arabic.) What documents do I have to bring with me? Thanks for everyone's reply.
if you have an existing e gate card and your rp is due for renewal, the new procedure is to merge your qatar ID and e-gate card into one after your rp on your passport is renewed. your id will now have a chip. you will need to go to immigration for it. it wont take long.
i don't have an egate card though so i only got the normal qatar id when i had my rp renewed.
Thanks for all the response.
So, we are supposed to be able to get it at the Immigration? Is it the one close to Landmark? I think every one over my institution have a multi-exit permit. But we have to take care the E-Gate card on our own, as travelling is basically not a part of job and I have to do so regularly for family issues. Are the agents are the Immigration Dept capable in English or do I have to ask someone who understand Arabic to go with me?
The ID card that I receive is the one with a blue strip at the bottom and it does not have a chip on it. Is this the SmartID? The ID card back at home that can be used at the E-corridors have an IC chip on it like those on the credit cards.
Is there a specific office for the E-Gate card at the immigration department?
Do I have to apply for a smart card before I can obtain an E-Gate card? (My current card expires next June.) Are they going to issue a separate card for the E-Gate service at the airport? How long do I have to leave my documents with the Immigration department for the application? Thanks.
Yes the Immigration Dept is not far from Landmark but on the other side of North Road. I went with the company PRO but he probably was not needed. The Qatari guy who did the photo and finger prints was a good English speaker. The Qatari lady who issued the card also spoke English and the man who activated it was an English speaking Philipino.
The Smart ID has a gold chip on the left hand side. Slightly bigger than a credit card chip.
And when you use it not only do you skip the queues for passport control it also gives you priority for the security checks.
Not fool-proof though. My last exit was fine - coming back it wouldn't work. The 'system' had decided I had left using a passport and not the card. Took a few minutes with a helpful Immigration Officer to sort it all out.
Just remember it does not replace an exit visa - you still need that.
Really straightforward - go to immigration with your RP and payment card, fill in the form (our PRO did ours :-) then pay the mony, have your Iris scanned and finger prints taken - pay for it and get it activated - simples!
Hi,
You can go to IMmigration with your ID card, have your photo taken, your fingerprint of one finger on both hands and pay QR 200. You can pay a one to 3 years. I suggest only a one year. It is Qr100 per year I think.
(It would be better if you ask your sponsor to do a multiple exit visa for one year. Then you don't have to keep asking for an exit permit. )
Immigration will then swap your RP for a chipped ID card which let you go through the as egate as long as you have your exit permit.
I have just done mine and it is so easy to do.
Good luck
E-gate card are good only if your sponsor is always ahead of issuing your exit permit. As you know, employees are bounded by the so called exit permit, no exit permit, your E-gate card is useless. Better without them, its just another plastic crowding your wallet and going to be used on the time of exit only. Better fall in line like the rest of the passengers, anyway your seat is booked on your name only.
Your recently issued ID card should be a Smart ID type, they're not issuing any other kind anymore. Is it a matter of paying the fee for the e-gate portion?
I would suggest you visit the egate office at the airport to get some real advice instead of "asking around" to people who may not know the facts.
I've never heard of a GCC country requiring that the egate pass be issued only at their embassies abroad (it's asinine).
