Emirates air lines misbehaviour
hello,
how is emirates air lines service.
i had a very bad experience with this air lines. there staffs are very much bad, uncivilized, impolite, and don't give respect to there passengers. We were 5passengers travelling from Doha to Bangalore, our total luggage was in excess of 3kg which will come just 0.6kg per passenger. The lady did not not allow us and asking for the excess baggage payment. Even after explaning, her the scenario she did not allow us to take the baggage. In-fact she said am going to through the luggage and and i will call the police. I felt very bad with their behavior and now i have decided not to travel in their air lines in my life and i have advice my whole family never ever travel in their air lines to get insulted again.
No sympathy for you, rules are rules. Next time make sure you adhere to the weight regulations and don't complain for something that u were technically in the wrong for you fool!
If there service has been below standard in recent times must be due to the financial crisis which forced many of the business establishments cut corners wherever possible just to keep themselves afloat. Looks like Emirates also compromised on selection and training of their staff during this period. Having flown Emirates for quite sometime now, never had any such issues, in fact they were more generous in providing the best of the hotels and facilities to the stranded / transit passengers. Hopefully as we come out of financial crisis Emirates would rise again to standards they are known for. BTW I find the non British crew more acceptable ...had some bad experience with the British girls ... never cared for how beautiful they were so far they provided the service I am supposed to get, which they didn't.
It happened on our last trip to Toronto on March 9- March 18. less than a month ago. As I said, I used to like Emirates much better that QR and than any other airlines (except for KLM)... I am a gold member of their SkyWards, meaning that i flew with them a lot... but last couple of times with them were just too much disappointed...Looks like they also got affected by the general crisis in UAE. QR at the same time keep improving their service.
QS...If I was in your place and they gave me the feeling that they don't care, I would feel the same as you do. BTW can I ask you if all this happened recently or some years back.
it's not you are the one who is planning. It is automatic plan. You make search, they give you the options. And it's not less than 2 hours. Don't forget, the gates are closed 30-35 minutes prior to the flight. So let's say you scheduled to arrive at 5PM, and your connecting flight at 7:40-8:00PM, you should be fine. But if your first flight is delayed for 2-2,5 hours, and you need 30 minutes to get out of the aircraft and to get to the gates, of course you are late.
But that's what I am saying, they do not wait somewhere else. They calculate what's cheaper for them and go with that. Which simply shows they do not care about the passengers, and that's the point of my entire talk. They don't care if 700 passengers wait for 3. Then they don't care if another dozen missed their connecting flight. Then they don't care that someone is hungry in their aircraft (for God sake, how much extra hamburger would cost? 5 bucks?). They don't care that someone reported lost belongings, and this is their direct responsibility to pick it up and save it for the passenger. They don't care (or rather happy) that someone have to pay extra $50 for not-exceeding luggage.
They simply do not care! And it's not about my money. I don't mind to pay extra 5-10 bucks for normal food. I don't mind to pay extra $50 for really exceeding luggage. But I hate when they don't care about me!
qatarisun...I thought of that point but then comparing 2hrs wait to a longer or an overnight wait weighed in favor of the 3 persons. Also I generally wouldn't plan a connecting flight so close i.e. with less than 2 hrs or so, if its going to be some other airline. And if its Emirates itself then again if they waited here, they should wait somewhere else too (again a presumption).... but I also do not have any reason not to accept what you said about them not waiting for a connecting flights in some other countries if you have experienced that yourself.
happygolucky, and what if among those 700 hundreds who were waiting for these 3, also was a dozen who had the connecting flight? And guess what, Emirates would never wait for anybody, even half of the aircraft is missing, in some other country, rather than Emirates, for the simple reason: they pay for every single minute spent at someone airport's ground! So it's not about consideration for the passengers (they do not give a damn on them!). It's all about saving money.. and look how cheap saving is!
QS, concerning the luggage, I was not talking about you, but "mirfan" who started this thread.
Qatarisun, the british girls who looked like film stars must have moved on and go on to Hollywood but the ones you come across now on Emirates or other airlines are from the whole wide world and are as good or even better then the ones that you came across earlier and perhaps a lot smarter and better educated
'Waiting for passengers'....well I would consider that as a consideration for other passengers who got delayed due to some reason of the airlines on the other sector...guess, how happy those 3 passengers would have been when they would know that they are still able to catch their connecting flight. Airlines may provide food, hotel etc etc when stranded due to their fault but sometimes that may just not be enough...I would rather prefer to be at the place where I have to be and when I have to be than look forward to their hospitality, which comes for free, midway. I would rather fly Emirates everytime when there are no direct flights to the destination.
Anyways, never had any major problem with any of the airlines but would still avoid, as far as possible, QA not for anything but just that somehow I feel they dont have that good feel factor.
I got my bag stolen on that airline. They paid me one tenth the world-wide conventional amount saying they do not adhere to international rules when it comes to baggage loss/theft.
i'd rather chop off my co*k than fly with them.
even crew composition has changed. Unlike QR, Emirates used to have a lot of british girls, who looked like movie stars.. now it looks like they are cutting cost on the salaries as well.. lol..
oh, just remembered another thing. When we flew from Dubai, the flight was delayed for 2 hours. We have already boarded, and were sitting in the aircraft.. Guess why? because they were waiting for 3 passengers from the connecting flight. That was cheap! I will explain why. Once I missed my connecting flight in London, because my flight from Toronto (with British Airways) was delayed due to some technical problem. I missed my flight for only 15 minutes! it means British Airways didn't make 500 passengers to wait even 15 minutes because 1 passenger was late. Now listen. Next flight to Doha was only next morning. BA had to provide me with (a) place to sleep, i.e. hotel (b) with food (coupons for 3 meal were given to me immediately). BA didn't wait for me even for 15 minutes in order to save this bloody meal coupons! Now. EMIRATES prefered to keep 700 passengers in the airplane for 2 hours, just to save on the meal coupons to 3 people who was missing their connecting flight. HOW CHEAP!
By the way, even TURKISH airways did the same once. I had to stay in Istanbul for 11 hours, during the day (not even night!) they provided me with the Hotel, without even asking for it!
I used to like Emirates a lot. But lately they are just simply CHEAP third-class crap.
by the way we flew A380.
nobody tried to take excess weight without paying. It was no "excess weight". It was clearly indifference from the attendant's side, and desire to charge for nothing. No one can reproach my guy that he doesn't want to pay. he is the one who pays for everything and for everybody. Always. I think you know that very well, as you have experienced it more than once. I am talking about clear neglect, and desire to charge unfairly for nothing, which looked rather cheap... Total of our 3 suitcases was 57 Kg. It was allowed to have 4 suitcases 86 KG in total (not more than 23 KG each). The only thing, one of the suitcases has exceeded limit of 23 KG. This suitcase should have been re-arranged, and some things should have been moved to other suitcase. She simply didn't allow us to do so! It was no queue, as a matter of fact, it was no one person around, as it was Business class drop-off section, plus we got to the airport quite early to pick my jacket. Finally no jacket (is it also our fault? all airlines in the world have their "lost and Found" section. Emirates looks like to save on this one as well), and $50 for nothing. Guess what, we do not care about $50. He leaves a tip of $50 after the dinner. It is nothing for my guy. But we do care about how attendants treat us! Overall, they simply looked cheap, no pride, not like high class airlines at all.. Plus this clear lack of food in the 15-hours flight!! Are we starving in this world? how the hell airlines can leave their passengers hungry?? My guy (thanks god!) is big healthy strong stallion. Excuse me, eating only veggies during 15 hours, as that's what left over, is a punishment for him! He was literally hungry during the entire flight! Are we that much miserable, that cannot provide our passengers with food? If we knew, we could bring enough food with us, it's not an issue. But who could think that "first class airlines" will be literaly lack of food in 15-hours flight?! we brought Chivas-25 with us, as this we could predict, Emirates would never offer it. But FOOD?? By the way, when once I flew with QR, it was also quite a long flight, the meals were rich enough, but for some reason i was hungry, and I asked just in case, if I can have another meal. QR offered me a choice of dishes! But to fly 15 hours hungry?? Shortly, I have flown just a lot, trust me! Last time Emirates simply looked cheap and disgraceful third-class organization, way too far form the world-class airlines. Simple as that.
Where was Emirates Station Manager, when all this happened....
QAS is handling Ground Support for all the Airlines Flying in or out from Doha...
Is this your first experience with EK?
I always prefer to travel thru EK only, reason is that if I have to complain for their services my voice is immediately heard and EK customer services is Excellent in resolving the issues like these as compare to any other Airline in the Middle East (as per my experience).
If the EK staff have really misbehaved with you by saying they will 'Throw you Luggage'. This is a very serious issue.
You must complain in writing, EK will locate that staff by their duty roster.
Emirates have 3 class configuration on A380 and should consider on other Aircrafts like 777s and 330s too.
QA have 3 Class Configuration,on 340s too...
But on other Equipments they should consider Economy Plus, Economy Class, and Business Class....
I never had a bad experience with either Emirates or QA.
I also find their staff to be very polite and helpful. Of course, I do not try to take excess weight without paying .
And yes, when I flew economy, it happened that I did not get my choice of meal...with various airlines. But that is, IMHO, nothing out of the ordinary, just bad luck.
Economy is not called "cattle class" for no reason.
Why to bang your head against the wall, Next time don't travel with Emirates, Spent a little more and travel on QA....
THANKS ONCE AGAIN TO ALL THE RESPONDERS
conclusion: EMIRATES AIR LINE STAFFS IN GENERAL VERY BAD IMPOLITE AND THEY JUST DON'T CARE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS " HENCE AVOID AND BAN TRAVELLING IN EMIRATES AIR LINES"
Once while flying Emirates, I famished as the black steward refused to serve dinner one hour after dinner time. I was asleep when they were serving food.
you had 3 kilos excess, so you are in the wrong. Period.
Well, 1st time I've heard this about Emirates. Never flown it yet (as no direct flights to my destination) but heard they have great fares. Was planning to try it some day.
/But have heard lots of these kind of criticisms about Qatar Airways though but then all my experiences with QA (economy class) had been positive.
I fly Emirates whenever possible. Mainly because of their excellent customer service. However, I have observed people who behave badly in that they think if they yell or wave their arms about they will get whatever they want, rather than acting in a reasonable or adult manner. Not saying that any of those who have had problems weren't polite and behaved professionally. Some of the worst I observed were a group of Americans boarding in JFK - cutting the line and "expecting" to be able to put their back packs (obviously oversized and overweight) as carry on luggage. They weren't impressed with Emirates, I wasn't impressed with them.
Ok so one lady didn't allow you excess baggage on board which is her job and due to that the entire Emirates staff becomes bad?
Interesting
They misbehaved with me also and things went to confrontation ,the captain interfered and after hearing both parties ,he said "We are really sorry and i hope it wont repeat again and i wish you a pleasant flight, any thing i can do for you sir?" then I said "yes! let me fly the plane"
The captain replied "Its all yours", And i flied the plane.
oh, and one of cabin crew gilrs got engaged in very ugly dispute with one of the passenger while we still were on the ground, and her tone was absolutely unacceptable.
And the captain while making announcments couldn't speak clear and confident. It was rather some hesitant mumbling of half-alive uneducated folk. I said, if he is going to fly the airplane the same way he talks, i am afraid we are in trouble.. well, all this creats a ceratin image abotu Emirates.
last time we flew with Emirates a month ago, long flight Dubai - Toronto. With all my previous respect to Emirates, last trip was quite disappointed. They simply don't give a damn about their passengers. All their attitude is "Hey people, leave us alone!" Looks like we, passengers, are for THEM, not the other way around. THEY should be there for US!
1. We had seats almost at the back of the section. 3 times the meal was served during the flight. And 3 times, we couldn't get whatever we wanted from the menu, because by the time the foodstand reachs our rows, food was finished on the earlier rows. My hub is very patient with such things, but on the third time he made a noise: "WTF! Why we have to eat "leftovers" after the front rows every time??". It is wrong to give to people on the back seats whatever left over after the first rows. I am flying for ages, and I have never come across such thing like "NOT ENOUGH FOOD" on the 15-hours flight!
Simply, THEY DO NOT CARE!
2. When we arrived to Toronto, I unfortunately forgot my favorite "ROOTS" jacket in the airplane. I reported it immediately on the ground to Emirates officers, they contacted cleaning team, and the supervisor confirmed finding the jacket on my seat. Then we were waiting for almost two hours till my jacket is delivered to the terminal (every time they kept saying: it will be here in 10-15 minutes"..) After 2 hours of waiting jacket has not arrived, and we were exhausted by 15-hours flight, and all we wanted is just to reach our home. So they suggested to pick up the jacket on our way back to Dubai. Surely, on our way back (9 days later), no one had any clue about the jacket. I am wondering, there is no "Lost and Find" section in Emirates?? I have reported it immediately, they have found it, so why they eventually didn;t teturn it? Simply, THEY DO NOT CARE! It's not that I cannot afford buying another jacket, but I particularly liked that one, and my hub and I have identical ones. Now mine one is lost due to Emirates' neglect.
On our way back we upgraded the tickets to the business class.
3. It was allowed 2 suitcases per person, total 46 KG per person, each suitcase shouldn't exceed 23 KG. When we were leaving Toronto, my hub had 2 big suitcases. He put first suitcase on the belt, it was 17 KG. While it was moving, he put another suitcase on the belt, and it was 25 kg. (total 42 KG) I suggested to the attendant to give us our first suitcase back, so that we could re-arrange the things between these two suitcases. Our first suitcase hasn't gone yet, it was still standing just in front of the second one, we could reach it easily. She refused to give it back to us! Well, my hub never argues about such thing, he just went and paid 50 bucks. But this was absolutely wrong. Simply, THEY DID NOT CARE!
I am not flying with Emirates anymore.
Yeah there sure is a policy in place for the staff of Emirates and other airlines to behave well towards their passengers but some of the lousy and lazy staff inbetween give this good organizations a very bad name
Emirates have one of the newest fleet of aircraft in the world with dozens more on order from Airbus and Boeing, if we are going to call them lets make it accurate
it is 100% true that emirates airline services are very bad and flights are very old air crafts no money for to buy the new ones, beggers , they like to gather money from the innocents, no good food supply, very low quality hospitality. better to avoid travel such bad airlines!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmm, now, imagine all passengers would have " a little bit" excess luggage....does not quite work, does it?
Every time I travel from Qatar I see many people trying to not pay for their excess luggage. The rules are clear...why not simply follow them?
POLICY IS A POLICY. THEY JUST FOLLOW ORDERS FROM THEIR COMPANY. THAT IS THEIR STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE THAT IF YOU HAVE AN EXCESS BAGGAGE, YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE EXTRA CHARGE. THERE IS A TERM AND CONDITIONS WRITTEN ON THE AIRLINE TICKET ON HOW MUCH IS THE MAXIMUM BAGGAGE ALLOWED TO CARRY. I THINK ITS YOUR MISTAKE SO DONT BLAME THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE FOLLOWING THEIR PROTOCOLS...
I understand your problem but this is not the place where you will get justice, for this you have to go and make an official complaint either to QAS / EMIRATES which you need to check it out
in wich air line..?
That day the staff allowed other passenger with little excess baggage, but my baggage was a problem because when they saw my wife wearing a niqab
I had similar bad experience when we were travelling from Mumbai to Doha in 2007, when they saw my wife wearing a niqab they did the same misbehaviour
irfan u wil encounter such attitude everywhere
these people loose there temper when they see a Muslim non Arab lady travelling with the niqab. it was not the weight concerned I belive.
poor emirates airlines :( they will go into huge losses if u not travelling anymore
many many thanks for all the support, its was booked with one PNR, its was not a QAS staff. it was there leader of the trip.
Azi dont even compare QA with emirates pls.. QA will take another 10 years to reach there
Now that you say their service is bad...I think I'm willing to pay extra and go with Qatar Airways. I don't want to start my holidays with a bad temper/mood coz of bad service.
am sure it will be the QAS staff you are refering to, they are the ones who check you in, not Emirates. The airport handling is done by them for all airlines.
She has no right to say that she will go through your luggage. Complain to the head office.
Emirates is going with a bad time with comments these days and if you feel they was actually a misbehavior you can make an official complaint about their staff inorder for appropriate action to be taken and with this you learn next time to avoid emirates
Was your family's and yours PNR same, or was it separate???
If you do a Group Check-In then they usually don't stop, but may be it was your bad luck.... .6 KG excess airlines usually let Pax go....
me traveled last julay , I have one can of "ZamZam" water. all airline allowed to bring 10 litter Zam ZAm water free of charge. but that day my zam zam water weight is 10.2 kg. they didin't allowed 200 gram more. I reduced 200 gram by drinking the water.
dear friend, can you explain all of your co-travelrs ticket is issued together (5person in one ticket) or seprate ticket if it is not one booking the air line staff can't allow you to share others bagage, please try to undersatand. otherwise you can complain to airport manager or senior supervisor availabe there..normaly Emirates airline staff behave very politly and desent I thing there is some communication mistake hapend......
sorry this is qatarliving , post any bad experience related to Qatar Airways
