First female editor of a Gulf daily

The Peninsula has a new Managing Editor, Rachel Morris, who has moved to the paper from Emirates Today in Dubai. Morris, a journalism graduate of the University of Sydney, is the first woman to edit a Gulf daily newspaper, according to a report in the Middle East Economic Digest. The appointment of an Australian to the top job came as a surprise to journalists at The Peninsula, and has been seen as an effort to make the newspaper more readable for Western expatriates.

the peninsula and gulf times are hardly news papers.

They are simply a compilation of AP, Rueter and other sources.

Copy and pasting doesn't really require a professional editor.

Incidentally, whats the deal with Gulf Times and words "slam and blasts"? Someone always blasts or slams that with gulf times.

A decent Page Three should be high on her list of priorities.

Shangri-La anyone....

I could sense all those Indue editors working with a piss off and conspiracy attitude.

I wish her the very best luck and success in her position..

Wish her best of luck. But do you think she will have that much freedom as much she might have enjoyed in sydney freedom of expression or say Press freedom.
