Flash back to 1999
Hello there my beloved Qlers,
I havent been on much, but im sure no one has missed me loool.
Anyways so today at 5 am since I was up all night and bored out of my mind, I was thinking what was it like back in 1999, 10 years ago what was a upto these days. It was very interesting question and frankly didnt really get any different result... was pretty much busy experimenting on my new computer Pentium 1, 200 Mhz with 64 Mb ram and 25 or 20 gb hard disk hahahaha, Trying to protect it from Y2K VIRUS... remember that???
I used to play Curse of monkey island and used to listen to back street boys, n-sync, britney spears and spice girls on QBS (oi dont judge me, u all have been there!!!!), which is no different until now lol, I mean QBS still plays same old songs. Other than that record music videos on those QCV black decoders to VCR, CD writer used to cost around 2900 riyals. Website were made on simple HTML, hotmail was not really that famous, I used to use excite. Altavista and snap were my search engines. Naughty stuff was not blocked lol. Last but not least, Counter strike and Half life were the most played games on the pc. I used to be much lighter back then come to think about it, i mean there was only "SANA" and The Mall at that time oh and The Center aswell, crazy round about existed, I cant find a pic of it until now anywhere on internet?!?! I used to spend alot of time in the internet cafes lol.
Well thats about me, what did you guys do during these days in 1999????
Cant believe it's been so long, feels like yesterday... daymn.
Panderosa Buffet was only 20 Riyals, I remember that time hahaha.

Those years were my best years....1999-2001.....;)
I was in KSA at that time, in one of the remote provinces in the western region. I was only 23 and I embarked on my first professional job overseas.
Al Baha, KSA, I miss you!!!!!
i was 19 that year... and 99 cricket world cup won by Australia...over pak... in the month of june tournament held... and steve waugh was captain that time...

it was also the last year i watched news on TV. ever since 2000, i stopped listening to the news (and i felt that yes, the world is OK). since 2008 stopped TV alltoghether.

was my first year as an Engineer.
At that time lot's of new stuff to learn and to work with. Lot's of changes in thee PC world also.
Now I just look back and say : "good old times"
Regards!!
"Back in those days, a 400 MHz, 128 MB ram, and an 8 GB Ram was sufficient for my needs"
I guess you meant an 8Gb hard drive!!! Right??
Regards!!
Back in those days, a 400 MHz, 128 MB ram, and an 8 GB Ram was sufficient for my needs. I played games, I prepared documents ,I was happy and I was considered to be a 'geek' as I knew the full form of 'Y2K'.!!.
And after a 10 years, I wonder how effective and powerful a similar configuration 'computer', even with a small form factor is; and the funny thing is, I call it a 'mobile phone' now...

well,
1999, i was doing my 1 year military service in the highest mountain in Lebanon, near the cedars, i did lot of skiing, chimney evenings with bbq cheese and potatoes and chestnuts that year, missing those days soooooooooooooooooooo much
Yalla!
I remember that i was sooooo happy coz i just finish my high school !
I remember my 1st PC ..200 Mhz with 32 Mb ram and 8 Gb hard disk .
I still have it .. i will wait untill 2040 to sell it :)
1999 was all about the Y2K and how every thing will just stop as the computer will fail to recognise the the digits 2000.
