In Focus - Crimes against Women

BlueBull
By BlueBull

Case 1: An Indian woman found left for dead by the roadside on a lonely stretch of highway in KSA. She was raped and brutalized by two Saudi men and her private parts were mutilated using the car key and a can of Coke was forced inside her.

Case 2: Two Filipinas abducted and raped by a group of Emiratis and bottle of Barbican forced in their private parts. Both died of severe injuries.

Case 3: A Filipina maid kept as a sex slave in Saudi by a family comprising of the father and his nine bachelor sons. She made a miraculous escape to a women's shelter only to be resold to another family where she was raped and brutalized. She jumped from the second floor of the house and committed suicide.

A common theme binding the three cases above - The criminals were never brought to justice.Infact our sophisticated law enforcement forces failed to even make a single arrest! More strikingly, none of the above incidents were reported in the media! The fact of the above cases is that they are not limited to the above parts of the world but is happening everywhere in the world. Inspite of all efforts, women continue to be the targets of the most heinous and barbaric acts of man. If we have not learnt to rein in the criminals responsible for above acts what chance we have in controlling bigger world affairs and crisis?

I can make up stories, too.

Case #1: Woman divorces man after she is caught having an affair with another man. The court awards her the house, both cars and 75% of her ex-husbands income.

Case #2: Woman assaults a man in his own home with a knife, man defends himself. Woman calls police, police arrest the man and charge him with domestic violence.

Case #3: Woman dresses like a stripper, no bra, her thong underwear hanging out of her jeans and is unfortunately raped. Blames the rape on "all men being sick dogs".

Case #4: Woman cheats on husband, gives birth to half-black child, apologizes, and guilt-trips husband into taking care of her illegitimate half-black child.

Women are not so innocent. In fact, they're quite empowered to be complete bitches. Especially in the West. Of course, I don't condone such crimes against women; however, making up sensationalist crap doesn't prove your point.

Lastly, the cases I typed to you are based in reality. Just good each case and find hundreds of thousands of results.

They are at a greater risk in societies which tend to be hypocritical and commit heinous crimes on unprotected expat women knowing it well that they are at the mercy of the sponsors and have no means of escape. IMO this is tantamount to modern day slavery.

International community must act now before a lot of other hapless victims succumb to this oppression and crime.

MN - Yes I did. I learnt that no matter where womwn are, they are neither safe nor out of harms way. The more conservative a society becomes, the more oppressed it's women get.

Where exactly did I lambast the region? And is it not clear that this region has a particularly bad record related to voilence against women, specially the maids?

By britexpat• 29 Jun 2012 22:33
britexpat

I think that we are talking cross purposes here. You are missing the point.

No, these types of cases are not "impossible to happen" in this region or any other for that matter.

My concern was that you portrayed these cases as having occurred or as factual, whereas they are heresay or imaginary.

You then say that "The fact of the above cases is that they are not limited to the above parts of the world but is happening everywhere in the world"

But then you come back and start lambasting this region.

To me , it does not make sense..

But seriously - Flexicode,Britexpat,Marco and Flor....what's wrong with you guys? ARe you saying these three cases are impossible to happen or are you saying that I should not have brought up this topic without a verfiable source? Or is it bcoz I mentioned a particular region which is close to your hearts? I am surprised by your vehemence?

The nationalities of the victims is not limited to a few asian countries. It is the same situation for anyone anywhere. We all know Delhi has become notorious as the rape capital of India. Similarly London has one of the unsafest roads for women after dark.

Honestly, this is one of the most absurd posts I have seen in a long time on QL. A hearsay post so specifically broken into CASE NUMBERS like an eyewitness account with supported photos and videos because it went unreported by media.

Clearly the target is a specific region WITHOUT ANY PROOF to substantiate the CASES, still the OP insists its a generic post to discuss crime against women ALL OVER THE GLOBE.

Aren't there enough links on the web that could have served the purpose better?

What a loose talk on a public forum!

By BlueBull• 28 Jun 2012 12:34

One of the major hurldles to stopping crimes against women is the perception of the society.

Marco: I saw you post while ago about the crimes In Syria, and you have a picture of a girl who was rapped and killed..This all is not telling you anything?! If you are such a supporter against crimes and abuse

How you ever say that you need evidence???

Its reported or not, all of them is under one category : CRIMES

If you don't want to discuss about crimes that are not reported, SYRIA crimes its one of them..Because there are supporters for this crime and people who are silent regarding it..

You can't support crimes that are showing by media and ignore others

They were young, beautiful and had such promising lives and I seriously don’t see why we shouldn’t be as sympathetic and angry to their cases as to the cases of their sisters in Saudi Arabia that the OP mentioned. Because it happens everywhere right?

And why not !!! It's not about we are against Qatar or any other Arabic country!

He gave us examples..I am russian ,And every day happens horrible crimes against women and children their by Russian people..We can discuss this also. And i am half Arabic!!

This is not about where it happened..Its about that this such crimes exist and we cant stay silent about it

Talking about this will just prove that we are aware and if we will have to make serious step,we will!

If my brother made such crime,i will kill him with my hands!

Women burining in India remains a common issue even today inspite of all attempts by the government and various NGOs. It's a shame for a country like India which prouds itself on technology and even boasts of becoming the next superpower.

Brite - The approach the absolutely right. I needed to talk about cases which I believe are true and which are shocking enough to appeal to people's intellect and hearts. i believe the OP does just that.

As far as addressing the issue is concerned - It has roots in lack of education and cultural norms which accord the women as second to man and makes man a protector of women not an equal. The education has a lot of do with the situation and this can be improved if Respect for Women and women equality are included as a part of the curriculum.

By britexpat• 28 Jun 2012 09:58
britexpat

I am sorry but I have to agree with the others. Whilst your intentions were good, the approach was wrong.

Now if you'd begun with the UN link and discussed violence or crimes against women , then that would have been better.

Having looked at the link, it is typical UN gobbeldygook with recommendations such as "reperations" for abused women, but is it really practical in most societies.

So, if you want to discuss violence against women.. let's do that.

Yes, it happens all over the world and is WRONG. In many many societies women are treated as second class citizens and that is wrong also.

So, how do we address this ?

By tatiana.golenko• 28 Jun 2012 09:53

Marco and Flor - How many news stories you hear on a daily basis which botheer you as much as my OP? Do you go after all the papers to verify the fact? I have given the links to women's crimes related data and I have mentioned time and again that above three cases are ihearsay BUT indicative of whats happening around the world.

Now can we discuss the issue instead of discussing the source please?

If not - Flag this topic as offensive ( which I'am sure you are finding it ) and request the Mods to block it.

For me it's an issue worth discussing as much as discussing some useless topics for many QLers.

you don't need to shout, no one is arguing bad to you.

The OP's intent was wrong placed. He should have not posted the three cases as they are unverified, If he want to discuss about violence against or crime against women, so many threads were already posted before or create a generic one without mentioning unverified cases.

He can easily post verified cases as there are so many with links. Why opted for HEARSAY?

Again, the three cases were outside Qatar, who to verify without links?

By Rizks• 28 Jun 2012 09:02

tinkerbell10: I think you completely missed the point TB.I simply raised my concerns to the lack of supporting evidence in this story not sure how my post turned out to you like that. When you file your claim you should bring along any evidence you may have to back it up.

Wild claims, second-hand reports and rumors are no substitute for solid evidence...

By flor1212• 28 Jun 2012 08:48
flor1212

If you believe all hearsay you'll lose your mind. There are already too much facts to believe and already unimaginable sometimes, but starting to believe on every gossip and hearsay, that's something, tinks.

And if you notice Tink, the three cases were all out of Doha, so asking the link is just proper. We are not discussing something within Qatar, so much to think about!

Do you have first hand info on the three cases, Miss Tinkerbell?

By tatiana.golenko• 28 Jun 2012 08:45
tatiana.golenko

Tinkerbell you are right!

Every time i read comments from such people i understand that they are making us hopeless ..

I am wondering, if something like this happen to his family member, and no body defended him or his rights...and he wanted to scream to the world about the truth, what he will do?!

I am not expecting too much from such people..

By flor1212• 28 Jun 2012 08:38
flor1212

any kind of reporting without basis will remain hearsay. If it is not reported, then it should not be discussed unless all people discussing such unreported thing are all first-hand witness? But if it just passed on from mouth to mouth, it is still a hearsay!

By tatiana.golenko• 28 Jun 2012 08:33
tatiana.golenko

Yes i am surprised too!!!

If this issue, even without a source can not be discussed !!! what should we talk about?!!

Weekend is coming? Iphone jail break?!How people can make money from anything?! How to find something stupid to buy!!!

Seriously no, i am not surprised ..This is what i was talking about..What can save us or make us Humans ..DEAD Long time ago

By flor1212• 28 Jun 2012 08:26
flor1212

but following your logic, does it mean that anything "perceived" or really happening in the world can just be posted here and discussed?

Now, if the OP posted the link from the beginning, easier to debate but he specifically mentioned of cases with specific victims, that is what we were asking the link!

By MarcoNandoz-01• 28 Jun 2012 08:12

God,all this millions of years , he put us under a test,Humans failed long time ago

In this part of the world women are second class citizens in the eyes of some men, so can be used and abused and they see no wrong in it..It's disturbing and disgusting..I hope attitudes change but very much doubt it any time soon..I heard stories of maids being abused when i lived in Saudi a few years ago, obviously it's still happening and will continue to do so..Very sad,my heart goes out to these women
