Food quality Malaysian restaurant Souq Waqif

I was just at the Sri Kebaya Malaysian restuarant in Souq Waqif, and got ripped off!

Ordered a plate of Butter Prawns, but got served 12pcs of small shrimp. This for Qr35!! On receiving the plate of food, I clearly asked the waiter "what is this?", His answer was "Prawns".

After scratching through the prawn crumbs, I found small pieces of shrimp, hidden in there. Qr35 for this - I thought, but said nothing, as we dont often eat out, I thought to myself that this must be what I ordered, so ate the shrimp, but being quite upset that I had to pay Qr35 for something like this.

When the "managares" came to take the plate away, I told her that I am not happy with the quality of the food, or lack there of. She said "Sir we didnt get our prawn delivery today, and you know prawns are very expensive these days" Should this be an excuse for serving inferior food then? If they didnt have stock, the customer should be clearly informed before hand, not wait to see if the customer would figure out that the meal he is paying for is not the actual food he is paying for!!

I suggest no one go and eat there, as the quality is bad and so is the service, as well as the fact that you might not get what you ordered, and walk away paying for something that you didnt order.

This is the second time this has happened at the same place.

Ripping people off should not be allowed. Wheres the consumer protection at restuarants.? Shouldnt you get what you paid for? Not substituted meals??

Well, there we might have a problem...as that would require waiters to actually KNOW the products they are selling..something pretty much unheard of over here...just like sales people usually have no clue about the products they are selling...heck, they most of the time don't know what is in the shop they are working at...

Wow,this is true,we also ate there just last week,we also ordered "Buttered Prawns" but instead of prawns they also gave us a small shrimp and i don't know if that is really what u called buttered coz it's really different from the way it looks, and i ordered prawns not a shrimp,i strongly agree with marais, food and service is bad, servants must inform the customers first about their food, they must tell the truth at first so that the customers don't get confused..

Go have the grilled prawns at Royal Tandoor, Souq Wakif. They're almost the size of your palm.
