What's happening, does anybody know. It all seems to have gone quiet.

and the rumours are its close to reopening, but then again this is Qatar and those rumours could run for years...

PS, I hope they do reopen soon. I'm getting pissed off with the young (drunken) girls dancing on the tables at the rugby club!!!

Nope, but we have till September to sort something out, otherwise we will be sticking to the home and away compound routine.

Any news for the new venue to play darts?

I will mention that. If not, you can always go in a bush outside. Now that's classy.

Well if you tell them to make sure the women's loo's flush that would be nice.

Seems like every time I read a thread Gypsy is in it. Being posh..... :)

I have HEARD that they are doing some renovations and plan to open in a few weeks with 700QR memberships. I am going down there in the next few days to confirm and get the membership process started. I can't wait to get drunk and fall out of my chair at 6 pm.

Yes I'm so posh, I like going to bars where the patrons aren't falling out of their seats drunk by 6 pm, and the bathrooms are clean, the toilets flush, there's no vomit on the floor, I don't have to listen to loud obnoxious people making racist comments. It's so hard being as posh as me.

I heard from a friend that they had got their licence again and would be opening again in a few weeks, but I could find a thread anywhere with a new update.

the dart league goes on but its just not the same. Musty old compounds in the airport area just don't do it for me!!

... and yeah Gypsy is posh. So posh in fact Madonna calls her for advice...

I think you have me confused with someone who gives a sh1t.

Gyspy, you must be flattered that you are considered Qatar's unoffical arbiter of all things posh.

I agree with you regarding the impact Garvey's closure would have on the patronage at other bars, almost all of which are in 4/5 star hotels. I love the image of ex-Garvey drinkers jostling for space in the bar at Ramada with Qataris in their thobes. It's such a wonderful cross-cultural experience.

Whatever gets the former Garvey's patrons out of all the other bars, I don't really care.

I heard that they are moving Garvey's towards the North of town on the Old North Road somewhere... tO cater for the Al Khorites

Lots of compounds have a club house. All you really need is a board on a wall!

Awards ball and singles night coming soon. season will recommence after summer break.

The govt did not kill the dart league, we just had to find new venues :o)

Although gypsy will get on high horse as she is very posh and probably has tea with the queen you could not beat Garvey for the big sporting events. Plus the govt killed the dart league and for what?!

If you do a search, you should be able to find the threads that discuss this. Garvey's lost their license to operate on New Year's Eve and are trying to regain it.
