Gay group boycotts Heinz

Heinz has been slammed by a gay rights group for withdrawing a TV ad for mayonnaise showing two men kissing.

Heinz scrapped the ad for Deli Mayo, which had been due to run for five weeks, after 200 complaints, reports the Guardian.

The decision has angered gay rights group Stonewall which is urging supporters to stop buying Heinz products.
Ben Summerskill, the chief executive of the group, said: "We're shocked that an innocuous ad should have been withdrawn in this way. I can't imagine that Heinz would respond to protests about black people featuring in their adverts.

"Our phones have not stopped ringing with supporters who are deeply upset."

The commercial shows a family scene in which 'mum' is a man dressed like a delicatessen worker who has a New York accent. Their father enters the kitchen, grabs a sandwich and says to the man: "See you tonight, love."
The 'mum' then shouts back "Hey, ain't you forgetting something", before the two men briefly kiss. 'Mum' then tells him: "Love you. Straight home from work sweetcheeks."

The ad finishes with the slogan: "Heinz Deli Mayo - Mayo with a New York Deli flavour."
Viewers who complained said it was 'offensive', 'inappropriate' and 'unsuitable to be seen by children', while some parents were angry that they had been forced to explain same-sex relationships to their youngsters.

Nigel Dickie, of Heinz UK, said: "It is our policy to listen to consumers. We recognise that some consumers raised concerns over the content of the ad and this prompted our decision to withdraw it."

(Love the name... Nigel Dickie :0))

On the other mental note, about the Heinz mayo commercial.

i found it interesting, the HOMOSEXUAL attitude in TRYING to boycott the Heinz company.

My suggestion to The rest of the world " the straight one's", should boycott everything or anything related to those HOMOSEXUALs especially from Canada!!

Brit,

once you start realizing that homosexuality is some kind of filth like pedophiles, rape, incest, sex with animals..etc, then you will be assured that it is actually healthy to have phobia against this disease and that decent people should NEVER be ready to accept homosexuality (this is irrelevant if the gays are nice characters or not!....they are still practicing filth each night)

liberal minds are here, yet.

homophobics still exist at this time..

.

.

Heinz can try this ad again, 100 yrs from now.

.

maybe.

.maybe not..

.

and try again, by the time, the word Homophobia can no longer be found in the dictionary.

very strong lobby in the media.

There is a theory that the gay agenda is beingintroduced slowly to eventualy make them fully acceptable in society.

Exaple : twenty years ago , mainstream sitcoms did not have any gays.

Slowly, they were introduced as background characters.

Now there are a few programs with gays as central roles..

I really do wonder, how many people actualy know that Elen is gay. Also, a ga TV presenter is not trying to "push" the gay agenda..

Gay related programs are usually watchedby gays and some straights.

By two gay people kissing in an advert, you are targeting a much wider audience.

then why the hell they allow GAY PEOPLE to host or be on TV?

Example is Elen Degeneres, she has a tv show and a lot of STRAIGHT (NORMAL) PEOPLE watch her shows.

How about this top rated tv show in UK QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY about 5 GAYs who make-overs a STRAIGHT GUY's LIFESYTLE?

HEY...before anyone bites me...I'm asking a question, ok???

It wouldn't have gone down to well because being gay is not accepted in black culture. Before eveyone jumps down my throat, I know that there are gay black people but as a whole they are shunned if they are known to be out of the closet.
