A good article, RE taxi drivers

A good read regarding taxi drivers here.
We all moan and complain and many of us will go on about how much better taxis are in places such as Dubai. But it is clear that this is because they are better paid and treated than here.
My theory is that if the driver has his meter on from the start, I will always tip.
I have no sympathy for taxi drivers who do not use the meter. I have had two free rides so far. Once the guy tried to charge me three times the price. He was unable to provide a receipt or evidence on the meter.
Second time a taxi would not take me from City Center to the Four Seasons hotel late at night. He told me 40 riyal and he would take me. I got in and at the end asked for a receipt. He couldn't provide one so I left him to deal with the hotel security.
If you can't do a job honestly don't do it at all! Go back home, go to another country, get another job. Yes it must be tough but don't steal my money because your employer treats you like crap.
When they just invent their fare i would cut their tongue off . M'am my meter is not working 35 ryals from Muntazah to Bin Mahmood .... HELLO ?????????
TFS.
I have also spoken to a few drivers who said the same. I do not really agree with the figures quoted, but "rental deriving" is the norm in many cities around the world - including New York.
The problem also lies with many passengers. They sometimes assume that not using the meter will lead to a lower fare - they try to haggle.
