Guardiola Qatar's National Team Coach??!!!

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has been offered a virtual blank cheque by Qatar to quit the Nou Camp and take charge of their national team.

Sport says Guardiola has already turned down €10 million-a-year from Inter Milan and €20 million-a-year from CSKA Moscow.

The Qatari offer far exceeds that of CSKA's and is for the next ten years.

Guardiola's current deal expires in June.

lots of people have done it.. west and east germans who then played for the unified germany.. serbs/croats/bosnians/kosovans/montenegrans who played for yugoslavia. ukranians/latvians/etc who played for the u.s.s.r.

Hey I was just saying someone has done it before, the circumstances were different but it's been done.

@ whyteknight that means nothing. that's only cause croatia used to be part of yugoslavia.. after yugoslavia split up and stop being a country the Croatians played for Croatia and the Serbs for Serbia.

FIFA regulations say that if you have played for your SENIOR national team then you can never play for another one. If you have only played in the youth national team then yes you can change.

As highly likely as it seems with this lot, this seems a hoax...i think the Qataris have enough sense to now accept that they currently lack the goods to bother the big boys in any way at all & buying,er sorry 'hiring' Barcelona's,Man.U's or Inter Milan's coach is not going to help matters...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at the talent the above teams have to offer as compared to the Qatar National team, with or without their respective managers...what they lack in discipline & mental strength can't be made up for by simply buying, oops 'hiring' the World's best football club's manager...life,unfortunately isn't so simple!...

For that amount it might be a better investment to get the players (the whole team) instead of the coach

if they change their nationality the cant play for QATAR cz they already played before for their Country Team...

Most of the top players are at 150,000 $ Plus per week, it will need an incredible amount of cash to ask them to change their nationality, so that will never take place.

Maybe that can also be done Sean C, but how sure are you that those players will be willing to dump their homelands and play for a foreign country?? Maybe money can make them do so but then again how sure are you that Qatar will be as rich then as it is now? With the advancement in technology; oil, what they depend on most, might be outdated as coal by then!!

EddyK, why develop young players when you can afford to buy talent.... Come on man!

Risking losing FIFA 2022 finals is not an option when you are the worlds richest country as rated by the IMF and CIA in 2010!!!!

Britexpat heard that he was to leave but hadn't confirmed. He was quite a talent we had in United. All the best for him.

Coaching Barcelona must be one of the easiest jobs in Football, you select Xavi, Iniesta & MESSI and 8 other guys and you win. Rijkaard revived them after their brief slump.

Does he deserve 20 Million an year?? Or even more as suggested?? I don't think so, does sound like a hoax.

Solskjaer was brilliant and a gentleman. He has left Man U and gone back to manage a team in Norway :O(

Coaches do coach, but players are the ones that play. Even if Qatar is to take a committee of coaches inclusive of José Mourino, Pep Guardiola and Alex Ferguson i doubt whether they will reach the knock out stage.

Its a matter of developing young players, engaging in many tournaments and friendlies as possible. The current lot of players am sure none of them will even get the chance to play for Qatar in the world cup as more talented players will come out and shine.

Develop talent right out from the academies. I know of someone who can help - Ole Gunner Solskjer. He's the coach of Manchester United Team B and junior team. He's achieved alot with the juniors by spotting and naturing talent. Or maybe the likes of him can help.

If such measures are not taken then Qatar will perform worse than North Korea in South Africa!!

All the best though!

Hmmmm Lucky man Guardiola..but i dont think he will help or make the Qatar team able to defeat teams like brazil, Spain, France, England etc etc.. If Qatar football Association really want to make there players & team strong then they will have to make strong there clubs (league level). coz after 10-11 years ALLAH knows where these presents players will be..!! So its not necessary to bring coach like Guardiola only for these 15 players,, do something for your club level..
