GULF Experience....
One year back... I decided to move any middle east country... While searching for jobs... I was asked to answer a strange unacceptable question... wat is ur gulf experience..? I was wondering... why do they giv equal preference as system knowledge or professional experience... After spending 10 months here... I think I got the answer now... Do anyone knew it?...
Ah...Baldrick sounds karrakt... but there is better way to explain it...
Could not have said it better Baldrick
a person has to be a lot more resilient both mentally and physically to survive here for long...
just an example..
people like us in the construction sector may fall off unconcious working under the sun if they are not able to stand the heat of summer.
maybe they ask if person is familiar with culture, language, environment etc.
Exactly..
I think Baldrick explained it pretty well.
Errrr, actually, yes, it is correct. They (we) want to hire people who know the frustrations of dealing with obstructive government departments, multinational labour forces, hot humid weather, lack of decent materials. etc, etc. I could hire someone from any country, but they'd soon get fed up and leave. GCC experience is a must for some positions, especially senior ones.
I feel they are preferring the people who are familiar and know the GCC cultures and use to it.
No... Not correct... Actually middle east is running with foreign experience only... there is no local experience in terms of technical, and professional... but I accept strong management is here...
Exactly - not just what you know job wise but also your life experience
It's same everywhere in the world. They ask and prefer candidates with local experience. Nothing new in that.
