hi!
i'm a new member. never posted before, until now. finaly have some inspiration- a new salon!

ok i'm going to write a little something here..i should be getting paid for this! (glow hair salon, if you are reading this..this is jill garmin and feel free to treat me to a pedicure..just kidding!)

i've been searching for a upscale salon in doha who caters to picky, hard to cut, hard to please, fine-haired, euro blonde customers like me.

impossible you say? i used to think so, too.

i was in costa coffee and saw this lady whose hair was amazing. i knew there was just no way she'd had it done in doha..but hope springs eternal. so i asked.
she'd had it done at "glow".
husband dropped me off. in i went. had a cut and color. very impressed. great customer service. clean. relaxing. affordable. informative.

loved my hair & husband insisted on taking me out after..wanted to show me off. left kids home. two of us went out. next day at school, everyone said i looked great. was picked out of the crowd to do important project at school. maybe because of my new confidence in self? lol!

glow sparked a whole chain of positive events in life hehe!!
:-)

wanted to share with anyone else who may be searching

get some glow for yourself..

I would like to join you as I passed by and saw the topic.

Well,, I got my hair done in She Salon and it was amazing, for god sake I was wondering if I'll ever find a good salon in qatar,,,, as I got disappointed of trying and trying and never get what I want. At last I found this salon which my friend told me about, and I said "WHY NOT GIVIN IT A TRY"

i tried najat at cloud 9. not impressed at all. she seemed "out of it" and my honey blond hi-lites turned ginger-orangey at the top. she didn't offer to fix them after i complained and i ended up paying and leaving so angry!! i was told to try the sheraton and didn't have good luck with them either. they made the orange fade a little, but then it faded down the hair a lot more, so that i had a washed-out orange look. i looked goofy for weeks until i finaly bought hair dye off of the shelf in the market and applied it.

a few weeks ago i tried the british hair salon "hair studio" in riviera gardens" and was also severly un-impressed..i waited forever for my appointment- they were at least 30min late getting to me and then rushed thru my appoint..(i guess to make up for time?) barely talked to me or consulted on my hair. when i got home, my husband re-marked on my choppy hair cut. (he never does that unless he thinks it's pretty bad.)

experience at Glow and it took forever between appointments as well. The pedicure was great by a lovely girl. My haircut was very "amateurish" even though the lady told me she had scads of experience in the US. Ended up getting it fixed by Marie Claire who did a very good job. I hear you Novita, some love her and some don't:) Recently, upon the recommendation of a lady at work with great hair, I've been seeing Tareq at the Ramada who did a great colour and an acceptable cut. He's terrific at blow drying and doesn't try to sell you any products or anything like some do...he doesn't say much but I felt I was in competent hands. With the summer looming and all that humidity, I'm bracing myself for the frizzies.

though I would still prefer at Bio-Bil Spa (don't know if they're still there now) but when they raised it to QAR200 an hour, I started scouting elsewhere.

Now I have a lady come over my place every other week for an hour of reflexology (full body) massage for a hundred (plus her transpo to and from my place) :-)

I'm taking back what I said about Mira's job at Four Seasons. The cut is soo easy to keep. She did a great job on that and the highlights look really natural too... apart from the back.. I will definitely go back though.

I read a lot of post about hair saloon, but still i don't know which one to try...there a lot of dissenting opinions.

I want to cut my hair and do highlights; the final result should be a natural look.

So, where do you suggest to go????

I must say the work at Glow is good but I was a little pissed at sitting under a dry lamp for an hour just so she could see how my curls looked dry. I straighten my curly hair and was bullied into 'the curly look'. She loaded me up full of products and gave me instructions on how to keep my curls nice. I wasnt impressed and for this reason I will sadly not go back.

So I'm not going mental!

They made me feel like a second class citizen in there and I told them so when they called to remind me I had made a second appointment. (Through needing to leave fast and die quietly and so therefore agree to nearly anything) If I wanted to feel intimidated and second rate and like I was less important, I'd rock up at Stepford Wives street and tell them my diamond was fake.

Ok rubbish analogy, but you get my drift.

They may be great for women who have all the time in the world to chat about manicures and make nice. I just wanted my hair done. I don't feel bad for this because (for once) I got mad at the time- AND told them what I thought when they called me.

It's just not good enough. If you tell them at the Sheraton that you need to be gone by a cerain time, you're out of there by that time; cheerful and feeling relaxed and good about yourself.

I booked a 5 hour all round treatment for my daughter and I at Glow and must say we were very disappointed. They took so long in between treatments that eventaully I left without having finished mine. The massage was the only thing I enjoyed. I agree with FranElizabeth I use the one at the Sheraton and have done so for the past 2 years. I have never had a bad cut or colour from them. Definately worth the money.

I hated it. They kept me waiting an hour between my colour and my cut and then they made me look like someone out of Dynasty.

Best one for me yet is Sheraton- I went to Four Seasons today and they were great but the cut is a bit frumpy. and she 'speed tinted' my hair and I didn't want it... my hair is the same as yours, jill g but it tends to go a little too strawberry blonde on experiements!!
