House from Government Housing Department

Hi folks
I am working at a Government organization and my contract says that I am entitled to Government Housing so I applied through the Government Housing Department called as Askan in Arabic last year. They showed me a couple of flats last year but I asked for a villa. As I wanted a villa I rejected all those flats. Today its been almost one year and still they havent shown me any villa. I was wondering does anyone know someone in the Government Housing Department and can help me in getting a three bedroom villa from there. I have two kids and one housemaid. I also have a dog that needs a small patch of grass.
One of my friend left our compant and he vacated his house so I asked them to give me that house but still they didnt give it to me.
I am now on the verge of breaking down and leaving for good as I cannot see any more of everyone else on my office getting a villa and I after one year am still waiting. I dont know what will it take for them to get me a villa.
Kindly advise me or help me.
Anyways I will wait for 2-3 months and then if nothing happens will head back home.

I have learned that in the Gulf to say "no" is impolite. Silence means a negative!

I'm starting to see what the people in the housing department aren't keen to help Mitas. He sounds like trouble.

Never have given (or taken) a bribe in the Gulf. What system did I miss? I'm not really a subscriber to the "everyone is doing it" school of ethics. But I've always been pleasantly surprised at the lack of everyday corruption here.

that if you have lived for so damn long in the Gulf then why do you keep on asking these silly questions and keep on coming with these foolish assumptions. You ought to know how does the system works in the Gulf

Dudette, please. And I've probably lived in the gulf longer than you have. And speak Arabic.

I am not doing something illegal. Only for illegal things you bribe someone. I will only compensate the guy for his help. I will only compensate him for his Wasta.

Err, excuse me, are you trying to BRIBE someone?

I dont understand, there are some people who have only three family members are they are getting newly bilt villas and to me they cannot even give an old villa

THAT MEANS YOU ARE NOT THE PRIORITY. SINCE YOU TURN DOWN THE FIRST OFFER, YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOW BE THE LEAST PRIORITY BECAUSE THE ONE WHO ARE NEXT IN LINE WITH YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO ACCEPT WHAT IS BEING OFFERED TO HIM. ME TOO ARE WORKING IN THE GOVERNMENT THAT IS WHY I KNOW HOW THEY WILL PROCESS A HOUSING APPLICATION. ONCE YOU TURNED DOWN THEIR OFFER, THEY WILL PUT YOUR APPLICATION TO THE LAST.

From my time in Doha I've learnt to take what's offered. You rejected what was offered, and now you are blacklisted. I would be very surprised if they come back and offer you a villa if you've already rejected apartments.

i agree with jiane karyll..

you became the problem yourself by rejecting the offers..

who do you think you are? you are not the only government worker here.. and denifitely not the only engineer.. you are dispensible like the others.. do not threaten by saying you will wait 2-3 months only then head back to your country..

do it now!!! this is the best solution not only for you but for the government of Qatar.

i think the problem is with you. why? they already given you before a 3 bedroom flat but you turn it down and you requested for a villa but unfortunately until now they have not given yet. the reason is, most of the government housing now are all flats. those villas are given only for qataris and for those higher positions. and if you find one that suits you taste, you will not get it because there are lots of applicant who is in line to have that villa. my advise to you is to accept what is given to you. be simple. dont ask for anything because it is given to you for free. there others who live descently in a flat...

What I heard is, the size of housing depends on the number of children. if you have three or more children you will be getting a villa.. If not, you are only eligible for a 3 bedroom flat.

I have tried everything, everything have sent all my Qatari colleagues there, spoken with the Director and Assistant Director myself. They only tell me one thing everytime I go there, Insha-Allah wait for the next committee you will get the house. I have even given them numbers of the non-occupied Government house but to no avail. I dont know what should I do next.

Even my Department Director also called them on my behalf but they didnt do anything.

You are already working in the Govt. Department so you should have some sort of Wasta to solve your problem.
