If you had told me earlier I would have probably gotten you rings without the making charges. It just happens I know quite some people in the Gold Souq and thats why I always buy Old Gold
to buy gold first of all u must have money for e.g currency/credit card/naps card, then u have to go to gold shop and ask what u want and then the price and if u like the piece/price pay and buy it,its so simple.
the guy from which i forgot the name of the shop..offered a juice!..i dont know if its customary to offer drinks after buying from them..coz the other shop where i bought the two tone also gave me water to drink..lol or must be in my face that i'm confuse and tired already..:D

Hi owen, i was about to post a comment on whether u bought the rings or not? from which shop u bought?
i bought 2 pairs of wedding bands....:) one pair, gold 18K costs 700 a pair, while the other which is a two-tone costs 1100 a pair...:)
thanks everyone...PM can you send me his details, who knows i might need to buy some jewelries again..:)

owen...Buy from a reputed shop. Because its easy to fool buyers regarding the carat & purity.
This is even more acute with Diamonds where it is next to impossible to differentiate between a well cut glass/crystal & real dimond (only an experienced jeweller/buyer can make out the difference).
Ornaments (rings, earings, chain, neclaces etc) start from 18K, 22k & 23k no ornaments are made of 24K as it is quite soft & can deform/break easily. Thus the more thinner/intricate the jewellery less pure the gold will be (usually 18k or 22k).
Cost wise you can find rings (marriage bands) starting around of QR1,000. These shops even buy back jewellery (if you have bill) brought from them in case you want to buy costlier jewellery from them.
Gold crazy Indians especially Mallus buy from Allukas & Sky Jewellery, Musherib street (National Area). Damas is also good.
why dont u try Damas jewellery in lulu hypermarket as well as in souq
No problem. Good luck in your search.
dacount i will go out this afternoon to check out some shops..but still send me his details...thanks

Now for wedding rings, the price will depend on the cut of the
diamond(s) as well as the type of setting, color, clarity and how many carats. I have a guy that I can send you to. Sorry I don't have his card with me. I'm at work right now. However when I get home I can give you his info if you like.
hi owen, current gold rate is QR.90[approximate] per gram. but when u buy the rate is calculated as gold per gram X rate + making charge per gram. making charge varies from QR.3 to till jewellers discretion. so before buying tiself check with them what is the makign charge for particular ornamnet. i've personally bought things from damas, joy alukkas and atlas.
daccount1229 wedding RINGS for my parents...any referrals would be appreciated..

Owen well first it depends on what kind of jewelry you want. The price for rings, necklaces, bracelets and watches depends on the size, total carat weight and what not. What is it exactly you want to get. I have purchased tons of jewelry since coming to doha in august and I have a really good jewelry guy. So I have a rough idea of how much certain things should cost. Holla back!!
hi owen, if i'm not wrong, all the gold shops in doha are certified and they can sell only good quality gold. 18 carr contain less gold content than 22 carr and 24 carr contains more gold content than 22. but for daily use 22 carr is the best. 24 carr is pure gold and wear and tear will be more on 24 carr. i hope i didn't confuse you.try to buy from damas or similar shops and keep the bill as well.
anyone?????....:(
