How much of your life is determined by luck?

I read a really interesting article on the psychology of luck and it got me thinking, how much of life so far has been determined by luck and how much by active seeking and hard work? To some extent my new job in Qatar is a product of luck - I only happened to notice the interview posting on a website and I was originally going for the traditional US acadmic route.

Opportunity rises with academic preparation.. I don't believe in luck. Is your will, determination and perseverance that will grant you fortune. Luck is the substitute for lack of Faith in your self and your goals.

about the karma i believe, what goes around come around. I believe the life we are living now is due to our karma which we have built up in our past lives. We are all very fortunate to be living the lives we lead. to have had a fortunate rebirth we must have done very positive things in our past lifes! Thats what i think anyway! i know i must have been very good in my past lives as my life is wonderful i couldnt ask for more! I just try and be as positive as i can be and as happy as i can be and grateful for all my life experiences they have made me, me!

Luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparation.

What is luck?

From a Dharma stand point, luck is karma. Can good things happen without causal factors? Wisdom doesn’t think so. People say,

if you want the future to be good, to be successful, generate the conditions right now. Or good luck happens to those who

prepare for it. That’s accurate.

For Happiness to permeate our life, we need to do good right now, to control unskillful behavior right now, to live

unselfishly right now. With this going for you, certainly the future will be lucky.

Hardwork, patience & faith in GOD are my three combination of a lucky life. I agree w/ han19 it needs hardwork to achieve something.

It just happened that an opportunity came to you & it is exactly or more than u dream off which you're not expecting.

Sometimes it will end up realizing you've done something good and it's a return.

Although others are not exerting effort as u do but just won a million dollars in lotto! hahaha this is true luck!

No, We do consider lucky if we believed that we've accompolished something & done extraordinary.

Just be optimistic in life wherever lane you are, & u will just wake up one day living in your dreams.

I agree with han19, to be at the right place at the right time is really important. Hard work and dedication is equally important, but only by hard work and dedication you cannot be successful. Luck plays a vital role, I personally think 80% hard work & 20% luck. There are instances I felt that I was lucky enough to supersede people who are more talented than me.

right place, the right time and you get soemthing positive and unexpected, yup that would be luck, but all along you would have been working and striving to acheive something.

i feel its hard work for whatever purpose that pays off, you just need to realise it as luck that you have found something thats new and too good to be true.

hard work, little natural talent, and faith in the almighty to lead you to success. i feel when you have this combination, you will be presented with situations that can be favourable and can be termed lucky.it all depends on how you want to perceive a situation.

do right, work hard, have faith and luck is awaiting you somewhere.

something to do with karma?????

happy heart

drive safe because someone is waiting for you at home
