Hia M Avinash Varshney from Ahemedabad.Reaching there in Doha in the last of April as a Operational Geologist and I will be joing in Qatar Petroleums as a operational Geologist.I got a job through a Bombay based HR company. Now the problem is that I am working with ONGC Ahmedabad and becasue my father was a Director with ONGC so I was pretty pampered by the local staff all the time but I am about to join the QP so just want to know that are they strict about the technical qualifications or it is going to be a golden goose job like my present government job as I do the administration job only all the time and I m not so perfect in technical duties because everybody knows here that I m not a good hand at techincal aspect of the geologist.Advise me as I have already resigned from my present company on 3 months notice period.

Jagteyraho,

I am sure you are a fake person and you have posted this comment to show down Avinash Varshney, with whom you have nothing to to do except jealousy.

You claim to be from Ahmedabad ! False, You can't even spell it right.May be you had been pissed off in India by his father earlier ,hence you are revenging on QL .

No sane person who wishes to be employed with a state oil company here in Qatar will create a profile and false details like you have posted here.

Since you also mentioned here your real name, QP HR will now know that you are actually not qualified for the job. I guess that's not a problem. Your father could always hire you back, right?

If you can get back your job in ONGC that would be far better. ONGC will also pamper you in even old age with handsome pension, but in QP you may be kicked out any time, especially in technically significant jobs. Any Indian would die for ONGC, but your problem may be you got it easy.

Dear Friend, i am sure you will be FIRED as soon as they discover your caliber. I know ONGC, where you could live under your fathers shadow and dictatae terms . I am happy that you have resigned that job and you will be put to test here , where your fathers name or fame will not work , be prepared to work or come with a RETURN AIR TICKET- wish you the best _god bless

Pls request QL mods to delete this thread. Hope you are not made fun of in QP due to this thread. Pls ignore drama of terminate/prison (3rd msg from top).

QP is a company people dream to work with. Yes its like govt. job in India. You follow companies basic rules like safety etc. your supervisor should be happy with u, be good to everyone and ready to learn.

Welcome to Qatar.

Joining A QP is not to simple. You have to show your potential iotherwise remember and keep it in your mind that they can send you any time back with eb=ven an hour notice, Here you have to compete in a multicultural envoirnment where you will not be able to hide your self. so come prepared and consider this as an advise that yuo should have aknwledge in your field that everyy expat hired here is considered well trained and talented so give a second thought to your decsion.

No pampering at all

so what he is telling us is that he has blagged the job because he has always been his dads shadow. is he actually qualified geologist. as my uncle is qualified so be interesting to see what he deems as admin. as i am pretty sure its all technical.

Dont worry you will find many like you in QP, not knowing their stuff but earning FAT salaries, have only paper qualification but no technical knowledge..

work is done by subordinates, known as ELS staff..

Just ignore the third comment from the top and welcome onboard...:) ONGC exp. will keep u in good stead...just be sure about urself that while u were enjoying the pampering you did learn your trade too. And last but not the least, leave the associated attitude, if any, that u are son of some ex director of ONGC at the airport while u board it for Doha the first time, till you would be here.

QP is a good company and since you got the job and since you resigned it is okay. Any job will be forgiving initially and please make it a point to learn fast. You should have done something at ONGC... That is all that is required. Don't be scared.. you probably know more than you realize.

Remember, if you are not sound in Technical aspects of your job, it is not good for you to come here. Very soon they will be able to judge / evaluate your performance and will terminate you. Then you will be left with no job.

Further, if you cause any loss due to technical neglience or technical inefficiency, then you may be imprisoned ranging from 1 year to 25 years depending on the loss that resulted from your low technical knowledge.

So if you are prepared to loose your job and even are willing to spend rest of your life in prison, then welcome.

I suggest you just go back to ONGC and withdraw your resignation and continue to work in India.
