well.. after the new traffic rules most of the people are "afraid" from the new penalties especially the 6000QR red signal!! so most of them will stop suddenly when the signal is flashing green to stay "in the safe side"! where they got hit from the back by drivers willing to use the lights to its limits!

Also most of them don't realize that not always there is a camera on the 4 sides of the intersection, so sometimes the accident will happen being "idiot"!

Drive safe ppl and don't get mad from locals trying to bypass you from all sides, bypassing the traffic and point their cars directly in front of yours, almost hit you from back, flashing like crazy.... we all know how they drive, how they think.. and they are always in a hurry! always!

Wow, what a thread. Do people really have nothing better to do in their lives than try and pick holes in people's stories and English usage? Sad. Very sad.

I learnt a lot of Bhasa Indonesia while bathing because the shampoo containers in India especially "Head & Shoulders" or "Pantene" contains a lot of this bhasa. This has intrigued me a lot. I find it similar to some Indian languages in many way.

The car I'm driving almost got sideswiped by a speeding PATHFINDER this morning on my way to Intercon Hotel. Good thing I was driving below 80kpm in the middle lane and saw him coming by my right side, overtaking me then changed lane to the first/fast lane...without even using his signal lights.

It's always "defensive driving" when you're on the road...

(Somehow, it's funny to some people...oh well) ;-)

u already take a chances when u register urself to get a driving license. it happend every where. either u hit other car or other will hit u.

i have alot of close call tht almost hit with other car. but the more thing u see the more thing u learn when u driving. u will b embrace ur skills in driving, so next time u can see the situation clear before it happen

There is a barrier there, we all know that road, there is NOBODY in the crashed car, so suggests they had all got out to phone police, PR's etc, so there was a delay; yet the friend took a photo.

Seems to me, there was an idiot that did flash their lights at Nov, she was going in that lane anyway and like everyday there was a crash. It happened but not to her.

She avoided a crash by being fortunate enough to get in the lane she wanted and a 'friend' took the photo. Yet no image of the friend in the side mirror is there?

If someone drives into the back of someone else it's there fault, period. It doesn't matter if the lights were red, orange, green, flashing green, pink, blue, purple, whatever. Heck, there don't even have to be any lights. If they go into the back of you it means they either weren't paying attention or they didn't leave enough distance for the speed they were going.

fishermanalex, that blinking light is over 500 metres afar. I am driving a small engine car, no way I can make crossing the junction and beat the light. Hence I slow down and stopped.

If you see the event about to happen to you in your rear view mirror the following steps are recommended...Release hand brake, take foot off of brake pedal and press your head hard into the headrest and brace with elbows slightly bent holding the steering wheel.

Ppl in Doha drive like fools. I think we should all be very careful bcoz just a single mistake can make you suffer ur entire lifetime.

ohh ur friend deserves a pat at the back. she was shaking and still had the presence of mind to take a pic. He/she must be a witty carracter.

at the angle of the shot...it coudln't possibly been taken by a front seat passnger.except the driver- the space supposedly occupied by the passenger is there..unless she pushed her way back to the driver's position to have the angle of the shot. and why should she do that they were on the road near the traffic lights and should be ready to go by time the signal says so.

and if you look at the right side mirror , that is perfectly the angle of the driver's line of sight.

Another thing, the white car looks parallel to the story teller's car. if the villain's car swerved to the next lane in the nick of time, he should have hit the pick up in a certain angle, possibly damaging his left quarter signal lights or headlamp itself-apparently that is not the case here. the damage is frontal.not even the left end of the bumper or the left fender has a scratch.

Question follows:

Why did the white car prefered to hit the pick up instead of the story teller's car? is it because the pick up is sturdier and will cause less damage to the pick up? you tell me.

If i were the white car's driver, i will not swerve to the next lane, that would increase the % of cars to get hit.

Happens all the time at Alwaab street, i live there. One day 3 hit from back at same time in front of me, all 3 lanes!!

Flashing green is part of the problem, i wonder how long will it take for someone in traffic deptt to realize that.

Novita - It's the one thing you can't do anything about. No matter how careful you drive,a rear-end collision is the one thing you can't guard against. Here if you leave a gap so you can move forward when you see the problem heading towards you in the rear-vision mirror, someone will drive across into it ( whether they want to be in that lane or not).

Given that you can't do anything - good question is "do you want to even look in the rear-view mirror?"
