I Love the Dead

Decades after Alice Cooper sang his ode to necrophilia, Wisconsin has finally banned the practice. The Wisconsin supreme court had to get involved after a lower court determined that there was no law on the books prohibiting sex with a dead body. Bad news for a trio of Madison teens who took the bonds of friendship to a whole new level. "Nicholas Grunke... asked the others for help digging up her corpse so he could have sexual intercourse with it, prosecutors say (MSNBC)".

The ruling was based on the inability of a corpse to "give consent" which could make for some very strange trials (The Ouija Board pointer definitely moved to YES. None of us moved it, I swear. It moved all by itself.)

I guess it falls under the category of "Come on, did we really have to say it's wrong?"

There's a pretty big difference between homosexuality and necrophilia, not least of which is an estimated 11% of the population is homosexual, whereas necrophiliacs make up less then .01%. Also homosexuality, except to freaks like you, isn't associated with any other kinds of mental illness.

So no, in 50 years I doubt people will look at necrophilia any differently.

or 50 years from now or shall we say 100 years, will it be the same medical perception?

If the medical journals now differs from what was 20 or 30 or 50 years regarding homosexuality, well, can there also be a possibility that will look the necrophilia thing in a different perspective?

The "perception" of consent is pretty much cut and dry, a corpse can say neither yes or no. As for common, necrophilia is said to affect less then .01% of a given population and is associated with mental illness. That's why Wisconsin has no laws (neither do many places) against necrophilia, this is the first case in their recorded history.

Necrophilia is really more a creation of fiction then an actual thing.

who would decide what is common and what is not common? The perception of "consent" is on the lobbyist which means the LIVE person and for sure, if they would want it, they will lobby for it. The "council" or "any group with legislative power" will always decide on what they perceived to be "right" but again, the question of what is right and what is wrong is again debatable.

So, who knows, what is wrong today will be right tomorrow and vice versa?

And it may happen again as a localized situation. Remember the thread mentioned Wisconsin Supreme Court only, what about the other states?

Not possible. A) you can't get consent from a dead body and B) it's not common and is always related to severe mental illness.
