I saw a penguin swimming near the corniche!

calvinandsuzy
By calvinandsuzy

This morning I was taking a walk along the corniche, and I saw something swimming about 20m off the shore in Doha Bay. I stopped to take a look and couldn’t believe it! It was a penguin.

I’ve lived here a couple of years, but never heard of penguins in the Gulf. Are they migrating? Has anyone else seen it?

ToonArmy,

thats so easy!

By ToonArmy• 12 Jun 2011 11:23
ToonArmy

But do you agree with my comment regarding the rock in the background? how would that be done Nic?

By Nic• 12 Jun 2011 11:17
Nic

ToonArmy,

Do you still believe that if someone had filmed that penguin in the Cornish would only film it for a split second?!?!

Since when fakes can’t be good?

I just condemn the idiot who used the child in this, that's all!

By bheybhieqoe• 12 Jun 2011 11:03
bheybhieqoe

realyy is it true uve found a polar bear in alkhor woow,,,i cant believe:)

thats cool if ever

By ToonArmy• 12 Jun 2011 11:02
ToonArmy

Earlier in the thread I said that this would be the only way to fake it - that is TWO separate videos cut together. But if you look in the background, behind the penguin, there's a dark spot under the water, like a rock. You can see this rock in the early part of the video too as he runs up to the water, which is clearly the corniche. Pretty good fake if it is one.

By Nic• 12 Jun 2011 10:55
Nic

ToonArmy,

No, you obviously didn’t understand what I wrote!

What I am saying, was that the idiot used two videos: one with the little girl and right at the end another one showing close up video of a penguin.

Can’t you spot the merge of these two videos?

By ToonArmy• 12 Jun 2011 10:49
ToonArmy

Nic, you're saying the vid is a fake because it should be more professional? LOL

By Nic• 12 Jun 2011 09:28
Nic

calvinandsuzy,

The video is fake, that’s all I can tell you.

Why not film smoothly from the child to the "penguin"?

Why not show the penguin in context with the surroundings?

Aljazeera aint perfect either!

By calvinandsuzy• 12 Jun 2011 09:19
calvinandsuzy

Nic... So it's all a conspiracy? You should let Al Jazeera know!

By Nic• 12 Jun 2011 07:47
Nic

calvinandsuzy,

the idiot who used the little girl to post a fake video is a coward!

the video is obviously a montage!

Penguins have a layer of Fat under their skin to keep them warm in pack ice, they do not migrate, and dont move to nothern side... only are found in southern side and hence cannot see penguin near equator. I dont know what animal was that, if its really a penguin its surpirzing to me coz they will die in heat in seconds.

Who does not carry a mobile with a camera these days? Everyone does.. Only a fool would actually stare it for ten minutes and forget to take out his mobile from his pocket and click pictures.. If you had pictures, you would not need to defend yourself and convince people of what you saw..

Not all penguins live in the ice... the penguins in cape town live in 35C and more. Maybe it wasn't a penguin, but you know what they say, if it walks like a penguin and squawks like a penguin - it might be a penguin.
